Parker & Kayla's story began in early 2020 on Hinge, the app “designed to be deleted.” Parker was drawn to Kayla’s profile right away—her strong faith, love for adventure, and readiness for something real all stood out. After some convincing, Kayla agreed to give him her number, and soon enough, they had their first date set for Super Bowl Sunday at Madcap in Easttown. Parker showed up to the wrong location first (a very “Parker” move, as Kayla now jokes), but once they connected, conversation flowed effortlessly. Parker remembers walking her to her car that afternoon, opening the door, and realizing just how sweet and genuine she was.

Their connection only grew stronger as the months went on. They met each other’s families and closest friends, who immediately loved Kayla and told Parker not to let her go. During the quiet of COVID lockdowns, they made the best of the stillness—taking long walks down empty streets, playing board games, and simply getting to know each other on a deeper level. There were adventures too, like when Kayla surprised Parker with a road trip to her alma mater, Michigan State, complete with a top-down Jeep ride and a picnic in the park. And on a warm summer evening at Laketown Beach, overlooking the dunes and a golden Lake Michigan sunset, they exchanged “I love you” for the very first time.

Fast forward to November 2024, when Parker planned the proposal. With the help of their best friends, he arranged everything at Phil’s Bar and Grille in Saugatuck. That night, after a rooftop cocktail, he drove them to dinner, trying to hide his nerves (Kayla noticed his sweaty hands, but he blamed it on her hand lotion). Just before heading inside, Parker guided Kayla a few steps farther down the sidewalk, directly under the restaurant’s marquee. When he finally asked her to look up, Kayla was stunned to see the glowing words: “KAYLA WILL YOU MARRY ME.” Before she could fully process the surprise, Parker dropped to one knee. Overcome with joy, Kayla said yes, and the two shared a long hug and kiss before turning to see their best friends rushing out to celebrate. The night continued with dinner inside Phil’s, filled with laughter, happy tears, and the joy of knowing they had just stepped into the next chapter of their lives.
