It all started on Black Friday of 2014 at a cozy Irish pub&nbsp;in Chicago by the name of Fado. Kayla and her sister, Maggie,&nbsp;were&nbsp;downtown for the weekend Christmas shopping with family, and after a long day on Michigan Ave., were&nbsp;searching for a properly poured Guinness. Chris, after spending time with family in the suburbs had come to join his roommate, Conor, and several other friends who were in town for the holiday. Kayla caught Chris's eye almost immediately from across the room; however, he didn't quite have the guts to walk up and introduce himself out of the blue. Luckily, a friend of Chris's (Kevin)&nbsp;who had a bit more courage that day was not quite as reserved. Surprisingly, not only did Kayla and Maggie welcome Kevin's intrusion, but accepted his invitation to join the boys' table. Kayla, Chris and the rest of the two groups introduced themselves and began to strike up conversations. Not long after, Conor, looking for a change of scenery, suggested the group walk down the street in search of karaoke - Maggie was skeptical, but Kayla assured her there was nothing to worry about because at this point&nbsp;she was convinced the boys&nbsp;were just a bunch of nerds (she wasn't wrong)!&nbsp;

After changing venues, Chris was eager to make an impression on Kayla so he convinced her to join him in singing his favorite number by the Backstreet Boys. Little did Chris know, Kayla doesn't enjoy singing (especially in front of other people), but she obliged and may have even enjoyed it a little bit!&nbsp;After the duet, the two continued talking&nbsp;late into the night&nbsp;until Kayla had to return to her hotel, so they exchanged numbers and went their separate ways.&nbsp;







The next day, the two began texting and Chris probably thought that a first date was all&nbsp;but guaranteed; however, Kayla wasn't so sure about this random guy she met during her night out in the city. It would be 5 weeks before they would see each other again, when Kayla invited Chris to join her and her friends out one night in the city. At this point, Chris was finally&nbsp;able to convince her to join him on a true first date&nbsp;the following week -&nbsp;and the rest is history!

At just about three years apart, Maggie and Kayla grew up with a very special bond. Their favorite times together include playing dress up, filming home videos, choreographing dances, playing sports, especially basketball, Irish dancing, and putting on a variety of plays that their mom graciously watched but very much didn’t enjoy. On many occasions Maggie would invite herself to play with her older sister and her friends which gave them plenty of opportunities to tease little Maggie (which one could argue that she mostly deserved).&nbsp;

Despite all of their similar interests, and even getting engaged to their fiancés a few weeks apart, Maggie and Kayla couldn’t be more different. Maggie lives in Denver while Kayla resides in Chicago. Maggie resembles her dad but Kayla looks more like her mom. Maggie is outgoing, energetic, and has always been a “ham” in front of the camera and Kayla is reserved, quiet, and dislikes being filmed. Maggie is confident, creative, and can draw well while Kayla is modest and likes to use stick figures. Maggie is messy and tends to lose things while Kayla is organized and enjoys doing the dishes. Maggie is a great teacher and enjoys coaching basketball while Kayla is impatient and can’t tolerate disciplining large groups of children. Even though they currently live 900+ miles apart, and can no longer share clothes, Maggie and Kayla have continued to stay very close.

Although Pat is a "few" years older, he prefers to be referred to as Chris's "youngest" brother. But despite their difference in age the two have a bond that has evolved and strengthened over the years. Since Pat cradled his baby brother in his arms for the first time, he has taken an active role&nbsp;as not only an older brother but also a vital mentor especially as it has related to navigating teenage years, selecting a college and pursuing a profession. As the years go by, the two brothers have also continued to discover common interests, whether it is a shared enthusiasm for discussing seemingly random topics like the big bang theory on a cross country road trip to Stanford,&nbsp;working off a filling Thanksgiving dinner by playing craps&nbsp;at the local riverboat casino, or enjoying aged single malt scotch whisky from their father's not so secret stash&nbsp;of fine spirits.

Patrick Scales

Chris and Conor met in their&nbsp;freshman year at Barrington High School and quickly became good&nbsp;friends through their shared interest in video games and Star Wars (we told you these guys were nerds...). Although, they went their separate ways in college, Chris made numerous trips to Purdue to visit Conor during his 4 years in West Lafayette and they continued to keep in touch on nearly a daily basis&nbsp;until both of them found themselves in Chicago again in 2012. For some time they had discussed living together in the city, so when the opportunity arose in 2013, Conor moved in with Chris. They lived together for 4+ years and in that time had&nbsp;more late night parties, Bears games (read:&nbsp;nap time) from the couch,&nbsp;Guitar Hero sessions and Netflix binges than either of them can count. Unfortunately, the two couldn't be roommates forever - don't worry though, they still live within&nbsp;2 blocks&nbsp;of each other and never go too long without catching up.&nbsp;

Please be aware that valet parking can be quite expensive at these hotels ($71/day at the Westin and $67/day at the Raffaello); however, the Raffaello offers a self-park option for only $38/day so please keep this option in mind even if you are staying at the Westin as the hotels are located less than a block from each other. Also, for those of you that like to plan ahead and/or are willing to walk an extra block or two, we have seen daily parking rates within a short walk of the hotels for as low as $28/day on the SpotHero app (link provided below).

The parking lot for Saint Ita is located just north of the church on Broadway; however, if the lot is full,&nbsp;free street parking is typically available behind the church on Magnolia.

A parking lot has been reserved for guests at the Charles R Darwin Public School. The parking lot is a short 4-5 minute walk from the reception venue (Stan Mansion). We kindly ask for guests that will be driving to drop off anyone who may have trouble walking in front of the reception venue before parking their cars.
