Our love story is a tale of two old friends finding their way back to each other in the most unexpected of circumstances. We first met during the fun, carefree days of high school, sharing secret crushes, awkward teenage moments, and plenty of laughs and good times. As life led us down separate paths, before we knew it, almost ten years had gone by, filled with diverging pursuits and distant memories.

During our time apart, Matt dedicated himself to mastering his craft in the automotive industry, tackling complex car issues and diagnostics with precision, quickly establishing himself as the top expert in his shop. Meanwhile, Kayla was immersed in her studies at UC Santa Barbara, working hard to earn a degree in Communication. After graduating, she navigated a winding career path, filled with many twists and turns, that ultimately led her to discover her passion for interior plants, horticulture and biophilic design.

Fate brought us back together in the most unexpected way: through an all-too-familiar problem, a pesky check engine light. Determined to avoid her usual go-to spot, Jiffy Lube, Kayla decided to shoot her shot and send a Facebook message to Matt, hoping he was still the car guru she remembered him to be. Spoiler alert: he was! What began as a simple car repair turned into hours of catching up, revisiting past memories, and realizing that the connection we shared was still very much alive. It felt like picking up a story we thought had ended long ago, this time with a new chapter waiting to be written.

Today, we’re living our happily ever after in Los Gatos, California, with our three-year-old pup, Ollie, who firmly believes he’s the real star of this story. Since getting together in 2019, Matt has climbed the ranks at Subaru, recently earning a promotion to Assistant Service Manager. Kayla has made her plant-filled dreams come true as a Biophilic Design Sales & Development Manager at Greenscapes of Silicon Valley, bringing greenery and good vibes to businesses all over the Bay Area.
