Kayla & Matthew

November 3, 2024 • Dallas, TX

With the wedding being in downtown Dallas, there are plenty of fun things to do before or after our wedding! Below, we’ve listed just a few things to do, inspired by actual dates that we have gone on!

Activities

The Dallas World Aquarium

1801 N Griffin St, Dallas, TX 75202, USA
(214) 720-2224

The Dallas World Aquarium is an amazing place to visit for anyone who loves sea life! The aquarium not only houses fish and other sea life, but they also have otters, crocodiles, and quite a few reptiles! This would make for a perfect daytime activity.

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza

411 Elm St, Dallas, TX 75202, USA
(214) 747-6660

The Sixth Floor Museum is a fantastic museum that provides A TON of history and background information about the JFK assassination. It’s no secret that this infamous day in history is tied to downtown Dallas forever, and this museum does a great job of educating visitors on the significance of that fateful day. A must see for anyone who hasn’t been!

Perot Museum of Nature and Science

2201 N Field St, Dallas, TX 75201, USA
(214) 428-5555

The Perot Museum is a nature and science museum that could keep anyone who decides to go there busy for days with all the learning that could be done! The Perot Museum covers topics such as dinosaurs, space, the human body, and so much more. Although we have already gone, we will definitely go back, because there wasn’t nearly enough time in the day for us to see every exhibit!

American Airlines Center

2500 Victory Ave, Dallas, TX 75219, USA

The American Airlines Center is the go to hub for sports and concerts in downtown Dallas. There is no telling what will be scheduled before and after November 3rd, but we do know the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars will both be playing in their 2024-2025 seasons! It’s always exciting to watch two of Dallas’ best sports teams whoop up on their opponent!

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

8525 Garland Rd, Dallas, TX 75218, USA
(214) 515-6615

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden has become one of our favorite places to visit. Between the beautiful flowers during the springtime or the themed events they have in the fall, you can’t go wrong with The Dallas Arboretum! Their Autumn at the Arboretum event should still be available to see around wedding time. The Arboretum has pumpkins strewn about the grounds of the garden, with many photo opportunities. While it is a bit of a drive out of downtown, we believe it is worth the trek for anyone looking to do an outdoor activity!

Restaurants

The Londoner Pub Dallas

5321 E Mockingbird Ln #250, Dallas, TX 75206, USA
(214) 823-2211

The Londoner Pub is a restaurant that transports you across the pond as soon as you step through the doors. Whether you’re having some Fish and Chips, Steak and Ale Pie, or the Bangers and Mash, you can’t go wrong. And you can wash it all down with a pint of Guinness! We traveled to Scotland in August of 2023, and we can confidently say, The Londoner is about as close of a representation of the pub culture in the UK as you’re going to get while being in Texas. While we may have some bias to this restaurant, as Matthew’s mom is a part owner of The Londoner Dallas, the food truly is delicious. While it’s not in downtown Dallas the location of The Londoner in Mockingbird Station is hard to beat as well. There are shops all around the area, and you could easily spend the entire day walking around Mockingbird Station after getting full from some authentic UK cuisine.

The Henry

2301 N Akard St Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75201, USA
(972) 677-9560

Throughout the our dating life and now our engaged life, we have both realized just how much we enjoy trying new restaurants and having experiences at restaurants that aren’t just chain restaurants. The Henry has an amazing rooftop dining area, which would be perfect in early November. The food served at The Henry is described as “New American Cuisine” and features dishes such as: Rotisserie Chicken, Rigatoni Alla Vodka, and a Harvest Bowl.

Moxies Dallas Uptown Restaurant

100 Crescent Ct, Dallas, TX 75201, USA
(469) 687-0050

Moxies has become another favorite spot of ours, because of the locations of this restaurant dotted around the metroplex. Just about anywhere you go in the area, you’ll have a Moxie’s within a short driving distance. They have three restaurants in the area, one in Dallas (listed above), one in Southlake, and one in Plano. Moxie’s in Dallas is located at the Hotel Crescent Court, and is a short walk to the American Airlines Center. Moxies, just like The Henry, is described as “New American Cuisine” and features items on their dinner menu such as: Short Rib Bolognese, Scottish Salmon, and the Loaded Cheeseburger.

Doc B's Restaurant

2021 McKinney Ave #190, Dallas, TX 75201, USA
(469) 998-2330

Doc B’s is a restaurant we didn’t know much about until we did some hasty research! We were going to a Stars game one night, and hadn’t picked out a restaurant to eat at, so while we were driving into Dallas, some Google research was conducted. We found Doc B’s online and saw it had great reviews, so we decided to give it a shot, and boy were we glad we did! Doc B’s has two locations in the metroplex, one in Dallas and one in Ft. Worth. Their food is also described as “New American Cuisine” (are you seeing a trend yet?) and it is delicious. Doc B’s is a short walk away from the American Airlines Center and just a short drive away from The Perot Museum, The Dallas World Aquarium, and The Sixth Floor Museum. Some items on Doc B’s menu include: the Knife and Fork Cobb Salad, the Marinated Filet Mignon Wok Out Bowl (an Asian inspired dish), and Rigatoni with a 1lb. Angry Meatball! While we didn’t get the 1lb. meatball ourselves, we saw it on someone else’s table and it looked delicious!

Meso Maya Comida y Copas

1611 McKinney Ave, Dallas, TX 75202, USA
(214) 484-6555

Meso Maya is an upscale Mexican food restaurant located within steps of the Perot Museum and only a short walk to the American Airlines Center. Meso Maya is also only a short drive to the Sixth Floor Museum or the Dallas World Aquarium. Needless to say, Meso Maya is right in the middle of it all! Meso Maya is known for their outstanding food, but they also have some amazing and unique margaritas and other cocktails! Some of these drinks include: the Avocado Margarita, the Cucumber Margarita, and a Bourbon Margarita. Meso Maya has it all from Mole Enchiladas, to Budin Azteca, which is the restaurant’s specialty, and involves your choice of a meat (chicken, beef, or shrimp) layered on top of corn tortillas that are coated in cheese, and a bone in Chuleta Tomahawk Pork Chop! You will not be leaving Meso Maya hungry, that’s for sure.
