Our Story

Photos

#1 Kelcie Fan. He love Kelcie. His job is camera.

Travis Young

Travis's muse. Grape girly. She is your daddy.

Kelcie McKenney

Jordan and Kelcie met at 16 thanks to their high school boyfriends being friends. They ditched the boys, but have been best friends since.

Jordan Gleason

Kaleb and Travis have been best friends since high school. They bonded over music and mischief. These days you can find Kaleb smokin' some sick meats.

Kaleb Grooms

Charlotte and Kelcie became pen pals in 6th grade. After years of writing letters and MSN Messenger chats, they met up at 16 in person and now travel together annually.

Charlotte Stringfellow

Madison and Kelcie have known each other since elementary school, but these days they're tight as can be and both very into reading and cats. Luna and Fred are like long-distance cousins.

Madison Tufte

Tif and Travis met in college thanks to her bein' in love with his BFF Kaleb. Over the last decade, they've grown to be just as tight. Before Kelcie, Travis often third-wheeled with Tif and Kaleb... or did Tif third-wheel with Kaleb and Travis?

Tifanni Walker

Travis and Travis are both photographers and they met in college over... you guessed it, photography. They once had a podcast together called Travis / Travis where they talked to other photographers and creatives.

Travis Carroll

Sav is a Director who inspires both Travis and Kelcie every day. Kelcie and Sav met on the set of a 48 hour film fest set and became fast friends. Sav lives in Vegas now, but he crashes in Travis and Kelcie's spare room whenever he's back in KC.

Sav Rodgers

Since they were three years old, Sam and Kelcie have been buddies. Sam is a triplet, and he's always joked that Kelcie feels like the fourth triplet since they've been thick as thieves for nearly 30 years.

Sam Gunderson

Vargas and Kelcie both work at T-Mobile together, and you'll rarely find one without the other. When they aren't giggling about inside jokes, Kelcie is bullying Vargas into reading romance books and Vargas is bullying Kelcie into liking Pokémon.

Matthew Vargas

Heather and Kelcie also work together at T-Mobile, and Travis has worked with Heather on set too! Both Kelcie and Travis love Heather's creativity and infectious joy. A reading day with Heather is a perfect day in Kelcie's book.

Heather Burton

Ryan was one of Kelcie's earliest friends in Kansas City, and he's basically family at this point. He's the meme king of Kansas City, and both Kelcie and Travis love Olive Garden hangs with Ryan.

Q + A

Join the wedding party and stay at Hotel Indigo Crossroads in Kansas City.

Hotel Indigo Kansas City – the Crossroads, an IHG Hotel

Travel

Our favorite museum in KC! It's free! Just reserve a time slot online before you show up. They also have ticketed galleries that change out often.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

Kansas City's romance only bookstore!!! Kelcie spends a lot of money here! Come get some smut, or a bookmark, or some stickers, or pin!

Under the Cover

Kansas City's first and only Vietnamese Coffee shop. One of our favorite spots for coffee. The Hella Good Latté is a favorite, just Viet espresso and ube. If you want a the traditional Vietnamese coffee, the Saigon is what you're after. If coffee isn't your thing, the Golden Excellence is a Viet style lemonade. A little more salt than sweet with lychee, super yummy.

Cafe Cà Phê

Our favorite Vietnamese restaurant. It's also really close to our favorite coffee shop, Café Cà Phé. They have amazing Phở (pronounced "fuhhh").The P1 is classic and P4 if you want it all. If you want a cozy meal that is both extremely hearty and feels light on the system, do the Bun Bowl(pronounced "boon") is amazing. Both appropriate for a cold or a hot day and it's extremely fresh. B7 is my favorite but there's different variations to accommodate your tastes.

Vietnam Cafe

Low-key, hole-in-the-wall bar with a small kitchen. They have simple drinks and amazing poutine fries. It's also the bar that our photoshoot was taken at for our save the dates!

Lucky Boys

A very amazing jazz bar to get drinks and cocktails. A place we take every out of towner for a good time. Show up however you want, dressed up or in jeans. It's dark and moody and there's live jazz music both upstairs and downstairs. If you're upstairs and the band on a break, they'll speaker in the band downstairs and vice versa so you have live music all the time in every seat in the house.

Green Lady Lounge

Our favorite BBQ joint in KC. It's located inside a gas station. Be prepared to wait in line, and if that's not ideal, call in and order for take out so you don't have to worry about standing around for awhile. The Z Man is a classic and high recommend. Burnt ends is also highly recommended.

Joe's KC BBQ

A really amazing Korean restaurant. There are no wrong choices with the food. Their menu is short, but every dish is exceptional. Our favorite place for Korean Fried Chicken. Something we get every time we go there.

Kobi Q

One of our favorite donut shops! If they have their mochi donuts in stock, you should definitely try them! We buy them all the time and their fruit flavors are the best!

Blackhole Bakery

A tasty brunch/lunch spot. Their menu changes often and is different based on what's in season. No wrong choices with their menu, whatever it happens to be.

Happy Gillis

Amazing burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, but all vegan. I know that might sound strange but it's amazing. We are not vegan, not even close, but this place is amazing and is a place we talk about often. Their Nashville Chicken Sandwich is wild, a hot style chicken sandwich topped with mac and cheese (and yet somehow all vegan.) Do it. It's delicious. Prove yourself wrong.

The Fix!

A speak-easy in Kansas City. Park where you can, walk down an alley way to an un-assuming grey door, go down the stairs, knock on the door and wait. If the light is red, they're at full capacity so just hang out in the lounge until the light turns green and someone will let you in. Dress however, it's a super fun time with an amazing staff and even better cocktails. The vibe is and setup is spectacular despite it's unassuming entry.

WE GOT ENGAGED AT THIS ROSE GARDEN! GO VISIT OUR LOVE SITEEEEEE

Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden

Downstairs showcases hand crafted miniatures that are both incredibly small and impossibly detailed. Upstairs is a trip down nostalgia lane as you hunt down your favorite childhood toys on display. A good time overall. Just something a little goofy and different.
