Toby was a year ahead of Kelly at Canisius in the Athletic Training program. Kelly was Toby’s “assigned student”, and he was responsible for teaching her how to navigate the AT room. Kelly interviewed with and accepted the position as an intern at the Bills, where she and Toby would be working together all day, every day, for the next year.

Toby and Kelly’s friendship grew during their time at the Buffalo Bills. When Toby graduated and left for Houston they remained in contact.

One night parked in the driveway while back in Buffalo on his winter break, Toby had a lot to say about wanting to be more than friends, leaving Kelly absolutely speechless (for once!). After a lot of discussion , they decided to give a long-distance relationship a try. Toby flew back to Houston shortly after, and so it all began!

After a year and a half of long distance, Toby made a big decision and moved to Norman, OK so he and Kelly could be together for her last year of graduate school.

A few months later, Toby was offered a seasonal athletic trainer position at the New England Patriots, and Kelly was accepted into PA school in Providence, RI. They packed up all their things, and made a move back East together!

Kelly is an extremely curious person… Toby somehow managed to design a ring and get it to Penn Yan while also getting his mom, Kelly’s brother and sister-in-law and her parents all involved in a surprise proposal right in her hometown! It was incredibly thoughtful, and Kelly and Toby are now enjoying their engagement in Foxborough, MA until their wedding day!
