The Broussard Wedding

Daniel Wayne Broussard Jr. and Kelly Nicole Erving, both from families rooted in Pomona, California, may have initially thought their paths crossed by chance, but in truth, their meeting was divinely orchestrated. Their first encounter was brief, a fleeting moment on November 17, 2022, during the Founders’ Day celebration of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. at Raquel’s Jazz Lounge in Rialto, California. A quick greeting, a passing hello, and then they went on with their evening, unaware of the journey that lay ahead. Fate, however, had other plans. In late 2023, their paths crossed again at a National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) event at Raquel’s Jazz Lounge. As Daniel sat in the back, enjoying a cigar and minding his own business, destiny stepped in. A simple conversation with Kelly sparked something special. They exchanged social media information before Kelly left to get her well-earned beauty rest. But Daniel wasn’t about to let the moment slip away. With seamless ease, he initiated a conversation through a direct message, which quickly progressed to exchanging phone numbers. That very night, they talked for two hours, and from that moment on, they haven’t gone a single day without speaking. Kelly, a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and Daniel, a dedicated member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, bonded over their Greek affiliations. But their connection ran even deeper. During one of their heartfelt conversations, they discovered that their mothers had grown up together, living just down the street from one another. And as if that weren’t enough, they later found out that their fathers had attended school together. In Pomona’s close-knit Black community, where friendships span generations, their love story felt like the continuation of a connection that had been written long before they met. Both Daniel and Kelly are selfless, compassionate individuals who never hesitate to lend a helping hand. They share a deep love for their families, and above all, they keep God at the center of their lives. Beyond love, they genuinely enjoy each other’s presence, a key ingredient in the beautiful journey they are building together. Now, as they step into this next chapter, Daniel and Kelly are overjoyed to celebrate their love with all of you. Nicks, My Other Twin, My Financial Guru,  We have truly done life together, side by side, from high school hallways to flights across the world. Our friendship has been an adventure, a bond that has stood the test of time, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.  I still laugh thinking about how different freshman year Homecoming was compared to senior prom. We somehow finessed our limo driver into taking us to Dockweiler Beach and Denny’s before heading home. Those moments, those memories, are forever stamped in my heart. Through every high and low, we always found our way back to what mattered most, our unshakable friendship.

Nnenna, My almost birthday Twin, One of the greatest blessings LA County ever gave me was placing you next to me as my desk partner. Little did they know, they weren’t just arranging seating, they were bringing a lifelong friend into my life. From the very beginning, you showed your kindness and compassion for people by always looking out for me, even covering while I went on my extended lunch breaks to  Hobby Lobby. It was in those small moments that I saw just how much you cared, and our friendship only grew from there.  You have been my greatest travel buddies, the friend I’ve explored a lot of the world with, creating memories in places far and wide. And with our birthdays just a day apart, planning celebrations was never a question, it was instinctual. We didn’t need to ask; we just knew how to make space for one other. Over time, what started as simple coordination turned into a beautiful tradition, our annual Benihana’s dinner, not just for us, but to celebrate our moms, whose birthdays are only 11 days apart. From the very beginning, you've been the sweetest little boy I know. Your kindness, your gentle heart, and the way you care for others never cease to amaze me. I already know there’s going to come a day when the little girls start noticing you and honestly, I’m not ready for that.
