It all started in a photo booth…wellllll, if we are being honest, it actually started in the elevator at work, but how boring does that sound?
Back to the elevator.
Kelly’s curious (read: gossipy) nature got the best of her and in true Kelly fashion, she eavesdropped on a conversation that Cindy was having with a friend about a date she went on with someone she referred to as “crazy.” Long story. That was all it took for Kelly's ears to perk up as she interjected, “Wait, I need to hear more.”
From there, the two became friends.
They often had lunch together at the office, spent almost all day together at the People team Giants game, went on dinner dates on a somewhat recurring basis, and slow danced at a Maggie Rogers’ concert…you know, as friends do! It wasn’t until the “Basic Bash” that Kelly threw at her apartment when everything changed.
Back to the photo booth (finally!)!
It was September 27, 2019 when Kelly hosted the party at her apartment. [Edit: “It was technically the 28th because it was after midnight…” - Cindy]
Who said good things don’t happen after midnight?
Cindy showed up with a few of her friends and there was immediate chemistry. The party ended around 11:30pm and they decided to go to the Comet Club afterwards. It was there where the picture happened.
Kelly, Cindy and their friend, Rachel, decided to take a photo booth strip.
What was intended to be a cute friends’ memory ended up capturing the moment that catalyzed this relationship. The photo strip printed and revealed….was that an almost kiss?? Rachel’s face said it all. Sorry, Rach…But that night was the beginning of something life-changing, and none of them had a clue.
After nearly two years of long distance during a pandemic and meeting in different cities to see each other, Kelly moved back to San Francisco to be with Cindy.
In September 2022, Cindy proposed to Kelly in Banff. A month later, Kelly reverse-proposed to Cindy…in a photo booth.
