What is the dress code/attire for each event?

WELCOME PARTY: “Aloha Friday”

Aloha Friday is more than just a day to dress down and relax. It's a celebration of Hawaiian culture, values, and the spirit of togetherness. Over time, Aloha Friday became a symbol of Hawaii’s laid-back lifestyle and “Aloha spirit,” emphasizing love, compassion, and a connection to the natural world.

We would like to invite everyone to our Welcome Party in their best “Aloha Friday” attire. Think Hawaiian shirts, sundresses, and sandals!

CEREMONY/RECEPTION: “ISLAND FORMAL”

*Our wedding will be in the early evening, so think a formal occasion, but island style! When in doubt, err on the side of elevated!*

For men, the most common outfit includes a button-down shirt, slacks or chinos, and a suit jacket or blazer. Any suit would do, but ties are not required! You’re welcome to wear black, but we’d also encourage any other colors, and breathable fabrics like linen. A button down shirt would also be appropriate. No shorts or flip flops, please!

For women, think dresses of any length, dressy jumpsuits, or dressy separates! Feel free to break out the floral prints and fun colors! Wedges, block heels or dressier sandals are encouraged. Please note you will be mostly on grass and walking on concrete for a short distance. If you want to bring a wrap for the later evening, it might be safe to pack one!

*CEREMONY WILL NOW BE ON GRASS ONLY, NO SAND!*

FAREWELL BRUNCH: Casual

To conclude our wedding weekend, we are inviting our guests to stop by Kumukea Beach for a small, casual continental breakfast. Think of stopping by to share a cup of coffee, mimosa, pastries, fruit, etc. with the bride and groom! No specific attire required!

Which airport should I fly into?

We recommend the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport, otherwise known as Kona International Airport (KOA), which is a 10-25 minute drive depending on which resort you are staying at!

Should I rent a car?

If you are wanting to explore the island or visit some beaches outside of the resort area, we highly recommend renting a car. If you are planning on not leaving the resort, you should be fine without a car and relying on an uber, as long as it is during the day.

What will the weather be like and are the events inside or outside?

All events will be hosted outside. The average high in Hawaii in October is around 82 and the low is 73. It will typically stay in the mid 80s during the day. Rain showers can happen, but the temperature is still warm!

Will there be parking?

Valet and self-parking are available at Hualalai and most other resorts on the island!
