Kelly and Zeke met way back in 2010, when Kelly's best friend Sara Berger (aka Bergs) joined an improv team called Stranger Than Fiction. Zeke was a long time member of the STF team and he and Sara became friends easily.
Kelly and Sara were roomies and Kelly used to come to watch Sara do improv almost every Friday. Kelly's favorite part of the show was when the cast would dress in spandex and wigs and perform musical improv as the hair metal band Phoenix. So safe to say Kelly and Zeke had a very serious start.
Years later, a little thing called Covid-19 came along and shut down the whole world. At the time, Kelly was living alone in a studio apartment in West Hollywood close to comedy clubs, restaurants, shops, all the things that were now closed! She may have been going a little stir crazy...
Zeke was living in Santa Monica and had always been an avid surfer. During the lockdowns he surfed as much as possible to maintain his sanity.
Kelly saw Zeke posting about surfing on Instagram and asked if she could tag along sometime. Zeke said yes! So Kelly bought a wetsuit and showed up for a day trip to San Onofre State Beach in Orange County. The rest of the group of surfer friends who were supposed to join for the all day surf excursion all bailed, so Kelly and Zeke accidentally spent an entire day together. Just the two of them. For 10 hours. And that's when they discovered they had everything in common.
They share a love of the outdoors, fitness, skiing and snowboarding, comedy (of course), traveling, good food, splitting time between the beach and the mountains, and big fat orange kitties. Really all animals, but especially those ginger cats.
After a few months of hanging out as surf buddies and friends, they realized there was something more than friendship brewing and officially became a couple on New Years Eve 2020. Who says nothing good happened in 2020?!
They moved in together in April 2021 and got engaged on New Years Day 2023 on Skylandia Beach in Lake Tahoe.
