Alex and Kelly met 2 days before Kelly's 19th birthday, at Relay for Life. She was introduced to Alex by some of her friends that were in the same fraternity as him. Thinking he was very cute, her move to get his attention was to ignore him. Alex on the other hand, thought Kelly hated him because of this. Smooth move Kelly.

Somehow they ended up seeing each other again and with the help of friend, were set up to go to Don formal together and started dating.

Alex visited Kelly over the summer where she introduced him to the legendary Portillo's (poor Alex was sheltered in Freeport from it) and Kelly would visit him in Freeport where she learned that apparently school mascots can be named after snack foods (I'm sure you've all heard of the Freeport Pretzels, but don't worry, Alex wasn't a Pretzel).

Throughout college, they went to countless formals, parties, sporting events, and concerts together. Alex graduated from Augustana College a year before Kelly and luckily for Kelly, Alex loved her too much to move away. Kelly finished up college with Alex by her side and together they moved across the country to Portland, Oregon where Kelly would be starting dental school.

They moved into an apartment together in Portland and lived there for 4 years. When Kelly wasn't locked in the office studying tooth stuff, they spent their time exploring Oregon and all it's beautiful places. A favorite Portland spot of theirs was a Barcade close by the infamous VooDoo Donuts. They also enjoyed wandering through the many trails of Mount Hood, especially once Mowgli came along.

Alex and Kelly adopted Mowgli in February of 2019, the adorable Mini Aussie you all constantly see spamming your social media pages (Kelly, you should probably slow down with the Mowgli pictures). They took Mowgli everywhere with them, including the day Alex proposed.

The proposal. It was a very exciting weekend because Kelly was having her golden birthday, turning 27 on April 27th. Alex took her to a resort and spa in the mountains of Oregon where they stayed at a private cabin surrounded by forests sprinkled in snow. They spent the weekend hiking through the forest trails and taking silly photos of Mowgli. One deserted trail had the perfect proposal spot, an overhanging cliff with icicles, beautiful trees, and a calm river running along it. Just as Alex was about to propose, a large and noisy family came barreling around the corner to ruin the moment. That's okay, you would think the family would just move along and continue their hike and Alex could continue with his plan. Nope. Instead of continuing on with their hike, the family decided to stay right in that spot, throwing snow and whipping icicles at each other. While Alex and Kelly saw no one on the trail the entire time, of course it would happen that people would show up right when he is about to propose. That didn't get Alex down though. They moved to another beautiful spot where Alex was able to propose and where Kelly, tears streaming down her face, said yes.

Alex and Kelly have been together for 9 years now, and cannot wait to spend forever together.
