Our Story

How It Went Down

Picture of How It Went Down

I really should leave this up to Zack because as he will so lovingly point out, I can't even get our anniversary date right (to be fair, I just had the wrong week).

But we met as all Millennials do these days - online. I took my shot and started with a "Go Gators" after seeing his photos with Gator gear (we had to see if he was a real fan). Apparently that's all it took and we started talking about everything from football to daily life. Our start was fairly straightforward, but as you may tell from the photo, our first date was anything but.

In order to summarize, we started by going to dinner where Zack immediately impressed me with his strategies to get this "I don't know, whatever you want" gal to decide. We met out in Lawrenceville, GA and it was your typical first dinner date. After, Zack asked if I wanted to continue hanging out and join his friends for game night. I obliged but under the circumstance that I drove myself and he send me all the information BEFORE I did so.

We proceeded to his friends house where we were greeted with "Let's go to Karaoke!" (After a look that told me Zack was as taken aback as I was). We took Uber and had a very interesting Uber ride. Imagine July in Atlanta WITHOUT AC and a driver that has decided you are her therapist dealing with the loss of her father.

Once we go to the karaoke bar, I was greeted with "Do you see where we are" by his friend, Amy. The bar was what can only be described as your grandparent's dive bar. If you're curious, google "Happy Hours" in Lilburn, GA and you will see what I'm talking about.

I would like to say Zack sang to me that night but in reality, he sang to the whole 10 people that were in there. For those of you that don't know, he's annoyingly musically talented. I think what really sealed the deal is when I told him we were getting a picture with "Reek" from Game of Thrones (see photo above) and forced him into a selfie. For me, it was that he didn't laugh but joined me at Dunkin Donuts in the 50 States Challenge from Friends (IYKYK) trying to list all of them.

Needless to say, it was an adventure that night and has been ever since.
