Our Chinese Banquet

We would like to welcome you to our traditional Fuzhounese wedding! Our customs are going to be very different from a regular wedding you might be accustom to. Ours is a banquet style wedding. There is no ceremony just a massive dinner banquet and a tea ceremony. If you have not been to a Chinese wedding before, get ready for something very very different. And very very loud. Please come with an open mind!

WEDDING VENUE AND LOCATION

Our wedding banquet dinner will take place in Royal Queen. It is large restaurant venue on the top floor of New World Mall in Flushing, NY.

Hong Bao (Red Envelope)

Bring Cash! Another custom during the wedding is giving Hong Bao/ Red Envelopes with cash to the bride and groom. This is our equivalent to a wedding registry/wedding gifts. The red envelopes will be available for guests in the front. These donations are blessings to the future bride and groom's new life. Our close relatives will also be there recording and collecting the Hong Baos.

MULTI-COURSE BANQUET DINNER

Chinese weddings are all about the food. A lot of what you will be doing is just sitting back and enjoying the family style multi-course banquet! There will definitely be foods that will be new and foreign to you. So come with an open mind and an empty stomach! The menu will look more or less like:

Appetizer:

Roasted suckling pig

Assorted sashimi platter

Entrees:

French style lobster and cheese

Poached coral shrimp

Bird nest soup with crab

Braised whole abalone

Steamed king crab over rice

Roasted quail

Steamed sea bass

Sweet sticky rice with syrup

Yi-Mein (Longevity noodles)

Dessert:

Fresh fruit platter

Sweet red bean soup

TRADITIONAL TEA CEREMONY

Another Chinese wedding custom is the tea ceremony. In our traditional Chinese wedding attire, we as the bride and groom will serve tea to our parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles, and other esteemed elders. It symbolizes respect to our family, filial piety, and unifying our families. During the tea ceremony, we will receive well wishes and gifts as a blessing from both families. This takes place while dinner is being served.

KTV AFTERPARTY

We would also like to invite you to our KTV afterparty! Right after the wedding ceremony and dinner ends, we will be hosting a karaoke party at The Real KTV located also in the New World Mall right next to Royal Queen. At the wedding itself there may not be much dancing or singing, so this is where we can sing and dance!
