95% of the world’s bourbon is produced within 90 miles of Lexington. We recommend coming in a day early or staying a day later to hit the trail and see your favorite brand’s distilleries. Most tours book months out in advance, so please plan accordingly. Here are a few of our favorites linked below:
Newly renovated in Fall 2024, this distillery makes some of the Groom’s favorite bourbon. Fun Fact: If you pop into the distillery gift shop, you may run into Bourbon Legend Jimmy Russell, who has been the master distiller at Wild Turkey for 70+ years. At this point we think it is only bourbon coursing through his veins! He loves sitting in the shop and signing bottles for tourists. Tours book out 3 months in advance.
You know the names: Blanton’s, Van Winkle, Weller. Even the most casual of bourbon fans dream of coming here. Also the most difficult tour to book. Tours book out 60 days in advance and sell out in minutes. Even without a tour you should be able to buy a bottle of their allocated bourbon and tour the grounds. The arboretum is not to be missed.
Arguably the prettiest of the distilleries in the area, Woodford is nestled in between some of the most iconic Thoroughbred farms in Kentucky. Grab a vintage bourbon from their extensive library and watch the thoroughbreds graze.
Unequivocally the Bride and Groom’s favorite distillery not only to visit but also in the products they produce. It is worth every bit of the 75-minute drive from Lexington. Located in Bardstown, you can easily Bankshot a visit to Willett, Makers Mark or Jim Beam while you are there. In Bardstown you should also visit Old Talbott Tavern, established in the 1700s and a great place to grab lunch in between distillery visits.

The definition of The Great American Bar Scene. The best dive in Lexington dating back to the 1930's. A place so legendary that for the bar's 90th anniversary, Budweiser sent their mythical Clydesdales here in 2023. Cold beer, strong drinks, and mean bartenders round out our favorite bar in town.
The recipient of the legendary 0.0 rating from famed pizza critic Dave Portnoy. Built into an old grain silo, this bar boasts one of the more impressive bourbon libraries in town. We recommend grabbing a giant slice of pizza and checking out one of the many other great businesses at the beautiful Distillery District.
A dusty bourbon bar with free fresh made popcorn and live country music, enough said. A staple dating back to our college days, stop by and look for our favorite bartender Richard. Bonus points if you know the nickname to Lexington's most famous politician.
