On a sunny Sunday afternoon, Kim went to Denny-Blaine beach in Seattle. She decided to go for a float on her tube on Lake Washington.

To her surprise when she returned to her spot there was a group of guys who had overtaken her space on the lawn!

After noticing Kim sitting in the middle of their cluster, Benji got the courage to ask her who she was.

She replied and asked him, "Why are you wearing a leg brace? And what kind of cripple comes to a beach without a tube?"

“Well it was a serious Ultimate Frisbee accident, sprained my ankle.” He replied. “And I didn't know I needed a tube…”

“Here you can use mine!” she generously smiled back.

As the sun set on that first summer day, he invited her with his friends to a BBQ that night. It was THEN she discovered they all thought (including Benji) that she was friends with someone there. To her reply "No I'm just a stranger you picked up off the beach."

The rest is history.
