Pandemic Consideration

We are planning to have a maximum of 75 guests, with the majority of guests being local. This garden venue will allow for the ceremony to be outdoors, and the reception to be under open air tents. There will be ample room to socially distance and safely roam about the grounds, while wearing masks whenever not eating or drinking. We will keep a close eye on guidelines up until the event, and appreciate your patience and flexibility in these weird weird times.

Our Wedding

How We Met

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, Kim went to Denny-Blaine beach in Seattle.&nbsp;She decided to go for a float on her tube on Lake Washington.To her surprise when she returned to her spot there was a group of guys who had overtaken her space on the lawn!&nbsp;After noticing Kim sitting in the middle of their cluster, Benji got the courage to ask her who she was.She replied and asked him, "Why are you wearing a leg brace? And what kind of cripple comes to a beach without a tube?"“Well it was a serious Ultimate Frisbee accident, sprained my ankle.” He replied. “And I didn't know I needed a tube…”“Here you can use mine!” she generously smiled back. As the sun set on that first summer day, he invited her with his friends to a BBQ that night. It was THEN she discovered they all thought (including Benji) that she was friends with someone there. To her reply "No I'm just a stranger you picked up off the beach."The rest is history.

Our Story

HERONSWOOD BOTANICAL GARDENS

This 15 acre garden was established in 1987 by Dan Hinkley and Robert Jones near Kingston. After being sold in 2000 and closed in 2006 and being neglected for so long it seemed the garden would be lost.But in 2012, the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe purchased Heronswood with a commitment to restoring the garden. Many of the original plants have been saved, and an amazing array of incredible rarities collected by Hinkley on his ongoing plant explorations to China, Vietnam, Chile, Myanmar, New Zealand, India, Tasmania and other remote locations around the globe has been added! <a href="https://heronswoodgarden.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://heronswoodgarden.org/</a>

We have a room block for anyone wanting to stay at The Point Casino and Hotel. Just call and ask for a room with the Browning &amp; Hill wedding.This is only a 3 minute drive or even a short walk to the Heronswood Garden where the Ceremony and Reception will be held.

There are a bunch of vacation rentals in and around Kingston, as well as in Edmonds just a ferry ride across the water. We recommend grabbing these sooner rather than later as they tend to book out quickly. There are also options reasonably close in Bainbridge Island and Seattle that could work as well if you're ok with the journey. A short walk down to the this beach unveils sand dollars and sea spirits. About 20 minutes drive from Kingston.
