Things to do in Calistoga

While you're in town, here are a few local favorites to explore between wedding events:

1. Wine Tastings at Local Vineyards

Calistoga is home to some of Napa Valley’s most charming and relaxed wineries. Consider a tasting at some of our favorite spots!

Castello di Amorosa - a vast Tuscan-style castle winery with rich history.

Tamber Bey - perfect if you want to pet some horses as you sip wine stable side.

Sterling Vineyards - Perched 300 feet above the town of Calistoga, Sterling Vineyards offers panoramic views of Napa Valley. A unique gondola carries visitors up to the hilltop winery, whose iconic architecture was modeled after that of the Greek island of Mykonos, where Sterling founder Peter Newton once lived.

Tank Garage Winery - a bit more casual in downtown Calistoga specializing in small batch wine blends. Kind of like a local wine tap room!

2. Calistoga’s Famous Hot Springs & Spas

Unwind with a soak or a spa treatment at one of Calistoga’s geothermal spas. Indian Springs and Dr. Wilkinson's Backyard Resort are both great for a relaxing mud bath, massage, or a quick dip in the mineral pools.

3. Stroll Downtown Calistoga

Take a leisurely walk through downtown - filled with boutique shops, tasting rooms, art galleries, and cozy cafés. It’s a great spot for a relaxed afternoon or to pick up a keepsake.

4. Old Faithful Geyser of California

Yes, Calistoga has its own version of Old Faithful! It’s a quick and quirky stop, and the geyser erupts every 30–40 minutes. There’s also a little vineyard, a goat farm, and picnic areas if you want to linger.

5. Scenic Drive or Hike Through the Hills

If you're up for a little nature time, head to Bothe-Napa Valley State Park for a short hike, or drive the Silverado Trail for gorgeous wine country views with easy pull-over stops for photos or tastings.

6. Oxbow Public Market - One of our favorite stops on the way or heading back from Calistoga. Located nearby downtown Napa, this sprawling marketplace features a riverside deck, several brick & mortar food vendors, local produce, and local keepsakes. We love to frequent Hog Island Oyster Co., Model Bakery, and El Porteno.
