Thank you for visiting our Wedding Website. This will be a great way to get all the information for all the events going on to celebrate our marriage!
What charities are you donating a third of the cash fund to?
Well we have 2 big charities close to us that we would like to support. We decided to give a portion of the money received from the wedding to charities because we have been very fortunate in being able to furnish a home already.
Kiran's grandfathers were both big in giving back to the community, whether they donated to Pakistan, US, or India. They were also big supporters of higher education for both men and women. Because of their dedication to the community and being patrons to many charities, Kiran and Austin have decided to donate to the Aurat Foundation. Aurat in Urdu means "Woman", which is the basis of this charity as they work to support women in education, abusive house holds, poverty and women's rights movements in many parts of Pakistan.
Austin's uncle Walter Harp was diagnosed with cancer and died peacefully in his home in 2019. The hospital he was working with for treatment in Seattle, WA was one of the biggest research facilities for stem cell matches. As we thought of missions that were close to us, we decided half of the charity fund would be donated to BeTheMatch. Their main mission is stem cell and bone marrow matching for cancer patients. We hope you all would consider also being on the donor list, like Austin and Kiran did, so you too could save someone's life one day.
Could I wear Desi clothes even though it's not my culture?
YES! We are encouraging everyone to try things from both cultures, it is who we are and a great representation of our relationship. Great places to buy outfits online are lashkaraa.com, hatkay.com, and akbaraslam.com. You can also visit quite a few different boutiques in Northern Virginia!
Why are there so many events?
In traditional Pakistani culture, weddings can be anywhere from 1-3 weeks long! There are alot of events that take place during that time. We decided to do 2 days of wedding shenanigans. Nikkah is the actual wedding ceremony that would be the official wedding date. The Shaadi/ Reception is the traditional American style ceremony and party day!
Are kids and plus ones welcome?
Yes, We would love for all our family and friends to be able to join. We just ask that you RSVP with the total number of people. If there are kids joining you, please be sure to let us know so we can have high chairs/ enough kid friendly food available.
When should I RSVP?
The sooner the better, we ask to have all RSVP's in by early to mid- September.
What is the dress code for each of the events?
Nikkah- We ask everyone to wear white, pakistani or modest american outfits.
Wedding Day- formal pakistani or american attire.
What is GuestPix?
Guests can upload photos, videos and guestbook messages. It's so simple and best of all it doesn't require all guests to download an app!
An internet connection is required to view and upload to the gallery. The gallery will be open to receive content from guests for up to 3 months from the event date. Everyone can view the gallery anytime for up to 12 months.
As a host, Austin and Kiran will enjoy seeing all the little memories we might not have seen neatly in one place - Our digital gallery! We will be then able to download all the memories (photos, videos, guestbook messages) in original resolution quality.
