We're so excited that's you're joining us for the official joining of our two families in marriage! It means so much to us to have so many special people in our lives there to celebrate this momentous occasion!

Our ceremony will be at 4:30 pm at Old South Church, 645 Boylston St, Boston. The Reception will follow across Copley Square at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel! Check out the other pages on our site for more information!

Our Wedding

Rather than having a raucous off-campus formal, Jimmy's gender-inclusive Greek house chose to cap off the spring semester of 2015 with a wine and cheese event hosted in-house. That night in May, Kit was mutual friend Nicolle Allen's plus-one. Jimmy saw Kit posing for photos and made a move using the nerdiest ask possible: "Want to play Super Mario Bros. with me?" As folks milled about the living room, Kit and Jimmy stayed shoulder to shoulder on the couch, playing games, talking life, and enduring each other's painful jokes. But Jimmy goofed by letting Kit go without walking Kit home or asking them out then and there. It took Jimmy's sibling Merrow's prodding for Jimmy to work up the courage to ask Kit out to the most romantic date possible: lunch at Dartmouth's food court, "FoCo." Before they had a chance to go out, the two passed each at the Hopkins Center, the "Hop." It was pouring rain outside, and Kit hadn't brought their rain coat, so they resourcefully created a makeshift poncho out of a trash bag. Kit was mortified by the encounter, but Jimmy was oblivious, and the two had a lovely college buffet meal together later that week. The two lovebirds spent every day together for the rest of the semester, and practically every day since then, solidifying that this relationship was in for the long haul.

The Perfect Vintage

One year into their relationship, Kit and Jimmy adopted Aberdeen, a blue heeler mix named after the Cage The Elephant hit song. Seven years later, "Bean" remains the joy of Kit and Jimmy's life.

Kit and Jimmy have moved around, apart, and back together many times in their eight years together: Kit's archeological dig and study abroad in Italy, Jimmy's first teaching job in northern Vermont, the couple's cross-country move to Denver, Colorado, and Jimmy's subsequent move back across the country to grad school at Duke in North Carolina. When Jimmy and Kit spent the first three months of the COVID-19 pandemic separated by thousands of miles, they stayed connected by "visiting" each other's Animal Crossing islands each and every day. After their wedding and the completion of Jimmy's summer internship, Kit will join Jimmy in Durham while Jimmy finishes out their degree. From there, who knows? But one thing's for sure--they'll be going on the next journey together! They would not have come this far without the support of loved ones (like you)!

A Wedding in the Heart of Boston

Old South Church is located just off of Copley Square and can be accessed by car or the T (Boston's public train system)! If you take the T, Old South is located at the Copley station (Green Line, all trains). It's also a short walk from the Back Bay station (Orange Line). If you're coming from other parts of the city, the Green Line is accessible from the Blue Line at Government Center and from the Red Line at Park St. If you are driving yourself to the wedding venue, please park using the valet service at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel, 138 St James Ave., Boston, MA (the location of the reception). Make sure you specify you parked for the Hattier/Ragan Wedding event when you drop off and pick up your car.

This is the hotel that is hosting the reception! A historic hotel that will be very convenient for guests wishing to stay close to the event. The $429/night rate is for a single queen and the $489/night rate is for a single king or two double beds. The cutoff date for this room block is May 10th. The Sheraton Boston is the furthest of the three hotels from the wedding and reception, but it's still an easily walkable half-mile from Copley Square! The rates for the Sheraton will be $259/night.
