KJ and Ian met during their very first week of medical school at the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky. They immediately hit it off as friends and, after connecting over a fateful screening of The Lighthouse (2019), found themselves falling in love.

Since then, their love has continued to grow as it supported them through the rigors of medical school, from long nights studying for exams to summer days spent in research labs. Even with their dense academic calendars, KJ and Ian still find the time for adventure and have fulfilled their wanderlust every chance they get. Whether it be museum dates in Chicago and Boston, hiking trips to Mammoth Cave or the Blue Ridge Parkway, or even a week-long Mexican road trip across the Yucatán Peninsula, the couple is always on the lookout for new experiences and memories to last a lifetime.

The couple are now attending their clinical rotations together in Norton, Virginia, where they share a house in the nearby town of Big Stone Gap with their bonded pair of cats, Orville and Amelia.

On January 26th, 2025, KJ and Ian got engaged at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. On that day, they affirmed their desire to immortalize their love through the greatest commitment any two people can make together: couples-matching for medical residency.

Oh, and also they decided to get married! We invite you join us in KJ's hometown of Damariscotta, Maine to celebrate our union and become a part of our story!
