Madeline had a Fulbright to the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium during the spring of 2018. Kokie escorted her and Bear there and visited a couple of times. On the second visit, Kokie arranged a romantic dinner at a restaurant on the river (photo shows the place). With a ring made of foil and string, Kokie popped the question.
Unsure what ring Madeline would choose, Kokie improvised and made a ring of string and foil.
In March 2020 as the pandemic roared forth, Madeline and Kokie decided the wedding would have to be postponed. Venue and vendors were contacted and we hunkered down for the year.
March 2021 arrived with vaccinations and a glimmer of hope that things would re-open. We decided to go for it - we moved the reception to a tent, and revved up the planning! With the support of Natalie at Fort Worden and our fearless wedding planner, Tanya, we are ready to celebrate!
