Our Wedding

How it started...

It all started at a bar..... They met at Out-R-Inn after an OSU alumni game. Garry had marched at the game that day and Krista spent the day tailgating with friends. By chance they both ended up at the same bar and the rest is blurry history. After exchanging numbers and talking for awhile, Krista ventured up to Michigan where Garry was living for the first official date. After many dates trading weekends in Michigan and Ohio, Garry made it official. For the next two years route 23 saw quite a bit of them with them traveling back and forth. They eventually were all done with long distance and Garry moved to Ohio while still working in Michigan. The pandemic wrecked the job market but Garry was finally able to find a job in Columbus.

The Proposal

April 2021 Krista and Garry decided to take a much needed vacation after being cooped up due the pandemic. They decided to go to Miami and spend time at the beach. Krista thought maybe the proposal would happen but after Garry asked her to check his bag, she thought again. Krista is a morning person and wanted to get up early and watch the sunrise. Garry had the idea to get up early and walk to a near-by pier to watch the sun come up and grab breakfast. They got up bright and early to head to the pier. Krista started to have some suspicions when Garry trimmed up his beard. After arriving at the not as close as we thought pier, Garry dropped down on one knee and asked Krista to marry him. Garry even had a secret photographer to capture the moment. They kept their engagment to themselves soaking up the moment until they returned home to share the news.

How it's going...

They are currently (finally) living in the same state. Krista and Garry now call Upper Arlington home and love exploring together. They've turned into those people who go to the farmer's market Saturday mornings and are trying to become regulars at their new favorite brewery, S.I.P. They've recently started exploring the metro parks so if you have a recommendation let them know! They would love to purchase a home eventually but the housing market makes apartment living sound pretty appealing. Garry is currently working at HFI in Canal Winchester. He is the Corporate Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security Specialist for all of the company's U.S. Operations. He works hard on implementing changes and improvements to make sure everyone goes home the same way they came into work, if not better. Krista has been a social worker at Nationwide Children's Hospital for the last 4 years where she serves as a home visitor with Help Me Grow. She engages moms and families in learning about healthy child development, and local resources. These last few years have been quite a ride but we are excited for what's to come.

I met Carrie my first year at Ohio State when I asked her if she wanted to go to a party with me. We've been best friends ever since. We've been lucky enough to live together, go on countless adventures, and visit more wineries than we can count. Carrie is a once in a lifetime kind of friend. I'm honored to have her stand by my side at my wedding and always. 

They say soulmates come in the form of friends and I would say they're right.

 Kyle was the first friend that I made when I moved up to Michigan.  Originally neighbors, we ended up living together for over 3 years.  From exploring our passion for board games together, to sharing our tastes in metal with each other, to him making me a coffee snob, I am grateful for all the experiences that we have had.  I am lucky to call him my best friend, and although we are now a state apart, I have no doubts that we will stay life long friends. - Garry

Reese and Elle are my favorite tiny humans, though maybe not so tiny anymore.  I met their family my first year teaching at Schoenbaum Family Center.  Reese was bright, funny, creative, and kind. Fast forward a few years and Reese is all that with a few more blonde curls. Reese is an phenomenal author/illustrator, when she makes it big I'll proudly claim we knew her first.  Now Elle, she was my bestie in room 134. No one can match her joy and enthusiasm. She says my name with more gusto than anyone else.  After leaving the classroom I stayed connected with the girls baby sitting, which turned into random nights of hanging out with the family. 

We're so thankful to their mom and dad (Kathryn and Ted) who share their girls us and treat us like family.  XO Krista

Reese and Eleanor Scheid

Michael is the husband of the Matron of Honor and one of our very close friends! Even though they have known each other a short time, Michael and Garry have bonded over sharing some of their favorite things including bourbon and coffee. I've been lucky to know Michael since 2015 after he met Carrie! We couldn't think of a better person to help us tie the knot. We literally couldn't do it without him! -K&G

Something Blue Crew

What is a something blue crew? This is a new version of a bridal party! I have so many friends from all different groups and walks of life.They all mean so much to me and I can't image not having them share in my special day. You will find them wearing shades of blue on the wedding day!

Rachel and I met our freshman year of college at Walsh University. We probably had equal amount of fun and trouble. After I left Walsh to attend OSU, Rachel and I remained friends. We're the friends that don't see each other for over a year and then get back together like no time has passed at all. -K

Haley and I are known for our movie nights and Rooster dates but long before that we met through our sorority Alpha Omicron Pi at OSU. She was there the night that I met Garry so she has been there from the very beginning! I can always count on Haley to laugh and have fun with me! -K

Vanessa and I met when I was a student intern at Schoenbaum Family Center. Vanessa was the kind of teacher I wanted to be. She soon became my mentor and eventually one of my very best friends. My first time flying, Vanessa came over and explained to me exactly what to do (I was stressed, don't judge haha). From mentoring me in teaching, flying, and now wine, I have found a friend for a lifetime. -K

Halle and I met as teachers at Schoenbaum Family Center. I instantly knew I wanted to be friends with Halle. She provides the best advice and I can always count on her to pick up the phone. If I ever needed an emergency contact she would be the best! Halle has also provided the best wedding advice and voice of reason! -K

Erin and I met at Schoenbaum and eventually had classrooms side by side! We both left teaching and ended up at Nationwide Children's Hospital, and soon we'll both share the title of Social Worker. She is a soul that you meet once in a lifetime. Erin has a huge heart, is super sweet, but also has a firey side. She may not respond in the group chat but I can always count on her to be an amazing friend. -K

Jeremy has been one of my closest friends for a decade now. We met the summer before he left of Ohio State.  I spent the year visiting him and eventually went to OSU with him. Much to his hesitation, we lived together and it turned out so well we lived together the next 3 of 4 years. He helped me learn to be me, live a little, and hold my liquor. Jeremy lives in Cincinnati now but we still have weekly phone calls where we catch up on life and I get home design advice. -K

Kasey and I met at Ohio State and lived together at 47 W 10th! When I think of Kasey, I think of Panera, tea,  our shared love of wine and that time we drove to Florida. While  I think we both agree we will never drive to Florida again, but we will have memories for a lifetime. She has helped me immensely in the wedding planning process and I am so grateful for her advice! I probably would have gone insane without it! -K

I can't even remember meeting Katti. One day I just kinda realized "she's my friend"! Katti helps me remember to not care who is looking, let my hair down, and just have fun. She is the perfect balance, my quiet to her indoor voice (which is pretty loud haha). Everyone needs a friend like her in their life. Katti always makes me smile and I'm so glad I can call her friend. -K

The first time I met Tori was a colorful experience. We met through Jeremy when they lived together in Newark.  Tori has a way of people feeling welcomed. She is fun and the life of the party. Tori even helped me find my career in social work, without her I would probably still be in college trying to find a degree. -K

Ethan Van Arsdell, Archer Kuntzman, and Phillip Dewitte

These aren't just Garry's Guys, but also my momma's boys.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ethan is the brother that I game with all the time.&nbsp;We're always jumping online, finding a new campaign to play together or falling back to some of our usual go-tos.&nbsp;Don't ask how many hours we have played Apex Legends together!

Archer is my youngest brother, with 16 years between us. I've been either away at college or living in Michigan for the majority of his life, but it is always nice to catch up and seeing how much he's grown whenever I'm home.&nbsp;Hopefully by the time of the wedding, he won't have passed me in height!

Phillip is my newest (6th!) brother after my mom married his dad, Jeremy.&nbsp;Every time I come home, Phillip is always welcoming and friendly to Krista and me.&nbsp;He always is appreciative during any of our interactions, even if it is the smallest gesture.&nbsp;I'm glad to be able to call him my brother!

Zack and Gabe Kupfner

These are also my dad's dudes.&nbsp;While time and distance has made it difficult to stay connected, they're still my brothers and are still important to me.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Zack is closest in age to me which meant that we spent a lot of time hanging out together growing up. I have many fond memories of multiple years of being on the same baseball team, or playing Nintendo 64 for hours on end. I wouldn't have my love for the Legend of Zelda video games without those experiences!

Gabe is my dad's youngest son, and&nbsp;although it wasn't the easiest to get to see each other over the years, especially with me moving away, Gabe has grown to a great young man. He's accomplished so much already and is currently in boot camp for the Army, following in my dad's footsteps!

Logan Minor

Logan is the last of my brothers from my dad's side, in between Zack and Gabe.&nbsp;He also followed my dad's footsteps, joining the Army out of high school.&nbsp;He now owns a successful business down in North Carolina, working his butt off every day.
