Our story begins four years ago on Tinder. We messaged a little bit and later on added each other on Facebook and started talking there. It was the middle of November sometime and I video called Joey on Facebook. I remember because I was in the middle of putting up my Christmas decorations but was getting bored. We decided to hang out that night. But I had to get permission to use my dad’s truck because I hit a deer about a week prior. Our first date was Dairy Queen, and we went to a dog park to eat it while we talked about how much Joey liked to snowmobile.
Joey asked me to be his girlfriend that following January. We officially started dating January 16th of 2021. We have been together ever since.
Fast forward to April of 2024, we went sturgeon fishing on Rainy River with family and friends. Joey was adamant on having all these people with us, which wasn’t odd because he is a social butterfly so I didn’t expect a thing. Joey asked my dad a couple weeks prior if he could marry me. So here we all are, in our rain gear fishing in crappy weather when Joey gets down on one knee pretending to bait my hook for me. He told me to turn around to look at the cows across the river and when I turned back around he was pulling a ring out of his pocket. I screamed at him “ are you proposing?” And immediately started crying. Easiest “yes” of my life. We cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together. 💖
