Walk to the Top of the Clock Tower
On Poros, you will find a clock tower high above the city and it is definitely suggested to walk up to it! It is an easy walk up and the best time to head up to this structure that dates back to 1927 is at golden hour so you can admire the sunset (which is truly spectacular on Poros!)
In the 1820s, there was involvement in the Greek Revolution from several different countries, including Russia. This meant that various parts of Greece were under control by certain countries and Poros had a Russian base on it.
The base was eventually bought out by the Greeks and after being rebuilt, it became known as Russian Bay.
Today, only remnants remain but it has become a popular area to chill out and enjoy the water and stunning, Poros scenery.
You will see the pieces of the crippled structure and that adds to the appeal of the place. There is currently a snack bar, toilets, and a few other places to relax at Russian Bay.
There is an hourly bus that runs there from the main city for around 1 Euro per person. It only runs twice daily.
History lovers will love visiting the Sanctuary of Poseidon, temple ruins on Poros.
Unfortunately, there is not a lot to be seen there these days as it really just looks like a lot of rocks, but if you know Greek history, you will appreciate visiting Poros to learn a bit more about this ancient temple.
They suspect that the temple dated back all the way to the 6th-century BC but nothing is concrete currently and a lot of studies and research is still being conducted.
Today, the Palamidi Fortress is one of the main attractions of the area. Even though it’s more than 300 years old, the fortress is in excellent condition. Apparently, a visit to Palamidi is a must if you happen to be in eastern Peloponnese. Walking on century-old stones and wandering through high walls and impressive buildings is an amazing experience. Plus, you will enjoy spectacular views of Nafplio’s Old Town and Acronauplia.
The island stands out for its architecture and elegance, especially in its main town. This is mainly due to the Venetian mansions that lie in the town and the excellent boutique hotels that combine traditional with modern elements, in a unique way.
You won’t find any cars in the town, as they are banned, so you can wander undisturbed and explore the picturesque alleys at your own pace.
Around Dapia, the island's port, there is a selection of cafes and bars, ideal for a romantic sunset drink. In Dapia, you’ll also find the Spetses Museum and Anargyros mansion among other attractions. Strolling around the Town, you’ll discover even more places for sightseeing!
Epidaurus is an area of mainland Greece which is found at the Peloponnese region. The most important sight in Epidaurus Greece is the Ancient Theatre. Apart from the symmetry of this structure, the theater is unique because of its excellent state of conservation, which allows it to be still in working order. Another distinctive detail about this construction is the perfect acoustics. If you drop a pin on the stage, it will be heard even if you're sitting at the last seats of the theater.
