Ian and Carolyn Strath, parents of the bride, are the epitome of unwavering support and love. As avid sailors, they’ve navigated life's waters with grace, always cheering from the sidelines of every basketball game and track meet. Their dedication extends beyond sports, rescuing Larissa from any storm life throws her way. Known for their boundless encouragement and warm hearts, Ian and Carolyn are not just dream parents—they’re the anchors in Larissa and her sister Alli's lives, ensuring every moment is filled with love and support. This special day is a testament to the incredible parents they’ve always been.
Each person in Larissa's bridal party represents a significant time period in her life. Without these individuals, she would not be the woman she is today.
Representing Larissa's childhood, Allison Creamer (née Strath) is Larissa's only and younger sister by 4.5 years. Lovingly referred to as Alli Ballerina by her older sister when she was little, these two are thick as thieves and will likely be cracking inside jokes and doing interpretive dances throughout the ceremony and reception (if you want to know, just ask). She is married to Zach Creamer who is a part of the Grooms Party, and Larissa served as the maid of honour at their wedding in July 2025. Larissa is excited for Alli to return the favour!
Representing Larissa's teenage and high school years is Kealey Elliott (née Clarke). Kealey is Larissa's best high school friend, with their friendship enduring long-distances when Larissa moved to the states. Despite this, their friendship has seen many moves, graduations, job changes, weddings... and now children!! The best years are the ones ahead as they voyage into new waters together.
Representing the undergraduate experience is Hailey Bertin, a fellow member of the Faulkner Women's Soccer team. From trips to Auburn, to bus rides to games, graduations, jobs, weddings and Hailey's Army career now bringing her all over the world, these two really have each others backs despite geographical distance. Fun fact: Hailey is the one who gifted Larissa her now 10-year old cat, Samuel!
Representing graduate school is Kristina Bell, a fellow UAB Blazer AND Florida Gator. Kristina and Larissa instantly clicked when they arrived at Dauphin Island for their first day of grad school, and 10 years later they are still besties. And, her dog Blaze is absolutely enamored with Larissa so much so that she refers to him as her boyfriend (don't worry, Josh is ok with this arrangement!).
Also representing the PhD days is Dr. Demario Overstreet. Some may think it is strange to have a man in a bridal party, but this is 2025 and Mario is truly the older brother Larissa never had and never knew she needed. Larissa and Mario were always within a few weeks of each other when completing their PhD milestones, and trauma bonded every step of the way. Though they have very different backgrounds, these two demonstrate that family is way more than who you share blood with.
Representing the post-doctoral phase of life is the sassy and vivacious - and soon to be PhD - Zach Strickland. Who knew that when Kristina invited him out to dinner with the crew one night, that he would be living with Larissa and Josh a year later?? Larissa always wondered what it would be like to have a little brother, and she has learned that it is even more awesome than she imagined.
Finally, representing Josh and beyond is his beautiful sister, Jennifer Wais-Strug. Having Jenn in Larissa's life is like having another sister and built in girlfriend (and most importantly, a secret agent to get embarrassing photos of Josh from). Larissa had the honor of being there to witness her marriage to David Strug, who is also a groomsman and now Josh and Larissa's brother-in-law. Jenn and Larissa have 30 years of mischief to catch up on, so here is to the most fun years ahead!
Kiyoshi and Josh have been thick as thieves since completing their residencies in St. Petersburg, FL. They were actually so close that their other co-workers thought they were a couple (sorry not sorry Larissa and Andrea) - they even got voted cutest couple! Nevertheless, Kiyoshi has agreed to share his life partner Josh with Larissa, and will be bringing the party all year, from the Bachelor weekend to the wedding reception!
Jeremy has been one of Josh's best friends since the undergraduate days. Josh used to crash on his couch regularly, and Jeremy is the original motivation for Josh to go to med school - without that, Larissa and Josh wouldn't have met! Despite his axe throwing skills, Jeremy is a loyal friend who always shows up for his people.
TJ is another undergraduate best friend of Josh's who always had a spare couch for him to crash on. TJ is a fellow video game nerd that is too wise for his age... to the point Josh thinks he's hiding something. As the only one of the crew who can keep up with Josh's drinking abilities, TJ will make sure that the party keeps going until the last call!
Rounding out the trio, Josh met Jason in undergrad at York University. As a loyal and supportive friend, he always played the best "patient" for Josh to practice with (not surgery, don't worry)! Hilarious and quick witted, keep an eye out for Jason bringing down the house with his crafty jokes and making sure Josh remains humble throughout the big day!
Now brother-in-law, David did the Lord's work by taking Josh's sister Jennifer off his hands when they were married in June of 2025. Not one to back down from a challenge, Josh took David to New Orleans where they had a pretty successful time playing Blackjack and Craps. Unfortunately for him, he's a Habs fan, but don't hold it against him... it just shows how loyal of a person he truly is.
Josh always wanted a little brother (sorry Jenn!) and he got one when Zach married Larissa's sister in July of 2025. A fellow avid snowboarder, Zach knows how to bring the fun little brother energy to the party and keep people on their feet. Also known for his quick-wit and funny jokes, be sure to find him and give him a loving noogie from his big brother Josh throughout the night!
Karen has been Josh's work big sister, ever since she found him lost in the hospital on his first day of residency. She took him in as family, which was especially meaningful during the pandemic when he couldn't go visit home. Josh is now an uncle to her kids, and she is a fellow metal-head that is always down for a good time (despite her always being late).
