Laura, a Southern Belle from Augusta, Georgia and Scott the Scot both moved to Houston, Texas for work in the Oil & Gas industry.

They initially connected through the dating app Bumble and despite living a mile and a half from each other, struggled to meet in person due to Scott's frequent and unpredictable work travel. He famously cancelled a date within 48 hours because of a pop-up work trip to Argentina, which Laura was HIGHLY skeptical of, but later proved to be legitimate after her sisters convinced her to give Scott a chance. They finally met in December 2018 for Christmas themed cocktails at Houston staple Julep.

The next 4.5 years were spent traveling, laughing, supporting each other through 3 job changes apiece and the harrowing Green Card process, drinking craft beer, running 5Ks, meeting the families, and finding the ultimate pumpkin bread recipe while in COVID lockdown.

While visiting Scotland for a friend's wedding in May 2023, they traveled to the Isle of Skye and hiked the Quiraing where Scott popped the question.
