Venue
Our wedding will be held at Casa Cornacchi in the Chianti region of Tuscany. The address is: Casa Cornacchi, Via Capitan Goro, 12, 52021 Bucine, Arezzo, Italy.
If you are staying at the Casa Murli part of the estate then the address is slightly different: Casa Murli, Str. Di Casamurli, 52021 Ambra, Arezzo.
Location
Montebenichi, which is just outside of the town of Bucine in the province of Arezzo. It's less than 30 mins from Siena, 45 mins from the city of Arezzo, and an hour away from Florence.
You can put Casa Cornacchi into Google Maps and as you get closer you will pick up signs along the way. If your SatNav doesn't pick up Casa Cornacchi then put 'Montebenichi' and you will see the signs on your route. Alternatively the GPS coordinates are North 43, 23' 23.46 East 11, 32' 58.81.
Airports
There are a few different airports you can fly to depending on your plans. If you're coming straight to the wedding from Manchester we recommend flying into Pisa as it's the cheapest and you can fly direct (it's only a bit further out than Florence.)
The closest airports are:
‣ Pisa (1 hour 50 mins away) - recommended from Manchester
‣ Florence (1 hour 10 mins away) - closer but no direct flights from Manchester
‣ Perugia (1 hour 13 mins away) - flights from London Stanstead only
‣ Rome (2 hours 20 mins away)
Taxis
Due to the remote location, taxis are hard to come by and expensive. If you need to get a taxi to our venue then we strongly recommend booking this at least an hour in advance.
You can find a list of local taxis and minibuses here, and most of these can be contacted via WhatsApp to book to make it easier for tourists.
Hiring a car
Renting a car is the easiest way to travel Tuscany as its countryside location means transport outside of the cities can be very difficult.
We hired a car from the airport through Booking.com and it cost £154 for a week. There is free parking at the wedding venue.
Please note: If you're hiring a car you MUST have a credit card in the name of the driver which has enough money on it for them to put a hold on your card until you return it (usually about £1,500 but check when you book.) Most companies WON'T accept a debit card and they wont accept a credit card in anyone else's name (even if youre a passenger), as I (Laura) once learnt the hard way in Miami at 2am resulting in a near-death experience.
Train
From Pisa Airport, there is a monorail (follow signs for Pisamover) which will take you direct to Pisa Centrale train station.
From there, you would need to take a train to Siena which will take about 1 hour 45 mins, and usually has a change at Empoli.
You can check train times and book your ticket on the Trainline app just like you would in the UK, and it should cost around £15 from the airport to Siena. (If you buy your ticket at the station, you must get it validated using the machines before you travel, otherwise you'll be fined! If you book with Trainline then you don't need to get the tickets validated.)
Once you reach Siena, you would then need to take a taxi to Casa Cornacchi, which is around 30 minutes away.
We have been told that taxis are easier to find in Siena due to it being a city however they are expensive (roughly 65 Euros from Siena to Casa Cornacchi, and that can vary just like it does here.)
It may be worth seeing if you can get together with other guests to taxi together - we can help with this too.
Note that while we have taken the train in Tuscany and that part is really straightforward, we haven't taken a taxi to our venue so we can't vouch for how easy this. We would recommend pre-booking all taxis at least an hour in advance. There is a list of local numbers here.
Airport transfer
It also might be worth getting together with other guests to organise a group transfer from the airport. Here are some companies which provide mini buses with drivers. However, we have found these to be quite expensive:
‣ Piemme
‣ PoggiBus
