Q & A

General Wedding FAQs

Is there a dress code?

Officially our wedding dress code is "semi formal" please. This means that gentlemen don't need to wear a jacket and tie (unless you want to) but please wear trousers and not shorts, with smart shoes. For ladies, we politely request that you don't wear white but there are no other colours you need to avoid.

What will I need to pay for at the wedding itself?

We have done everything we can to make sure things are as affordable as possible as we know you're spending a lot travelling to a whole other country. There will be a free bar at the wedding and we will also be providing food at the Pool Party on the last day. If you're staying on-site then breakfast is included with your accommodation, but we haven't been able to provide lunches. However, the on-site restaurant is very reasonable or you're more than welcome to bring your own food and use the kitchen facilities.

What do I need to pack?

Apart from the obvious - definitely pack sun cream, swimwear and towels for the pool party, and mozzy spray. I cannot stress enough that the mozzys are little bastards and will eat you alive.

What food will you be serving?

There will be aperitivos after the ceremony, followed by a three course Italian meal, then a dessert buffet (as well as Gelato throughout the day.) However, because the wedding doesn't begin until 3.30pm we recommend having a light lunch beforehand as the meal isn't until 6ish (and there will be a lot of alcohol!) At the Pool Party there will be a BBQ in the evening, but again we'd recommend eating lunch before you arrive as the BBQ will be served at 8pm.

Is there an open bar?

Yes! At the wedding there will be prosecco and spritz cocktails during the aperetivos and unlimited wine during the meal, followed by an open bar serving cocktails and spirits until midnight. So knock yourselves out! (not literally @Jake Chappell.)

Can I post photos to social media?

Of course, please tag us so that we see them all! Don't worry about waiting for us to post the first photos, we'd rather you capture the memories then we have loads to look back on.

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony, aperetivos and meal will all take place outside, weather dependent! We'll move inside for the band and dancing around 9pm.

Is there a gift registry?

We know it's one of those old cliches, but your presence at our wedding is the only gift we need. However, if you would like to give us a gift then we would be very grateful of a cash gift to put towards our honeymoon. We're more than happy to receive cards at home as we know it's an extra thing to pack!

FAQs about the area

Are there taxis in the area?

Yes, but outside of the cities (Florence, Siena and Arezzo) they are difficult and expensive to book. If you need a taxi then we strongly recommend pre-booking using the taxi numbers on the Location & Travel page.

What will the weather be like?

Based on previous years we're expecting the temperature to be around 25 degrees, but it gets quite cool at night (lows of 12 degrees.) We're high in the hills where it can get quite breezy and Tuscany can also be quite a cloudy region, so keep that in mind. We'll be outside until around 9pm so you might want to have a jacket on hand just in case.

Where are the nearest shops?

There are grocery stores in the nearest village, Ambra, which is about 10 mins drive away. There is a Co-Op Supermarket in the town of Bucine, about 15 mins drive away. Be aware though that lots of stores in Italy close in the afternoon for around 90 mins to 2 hours, for the riposo (Italian siesta).

Is Tuscany expensive?

Honestly - no. One of the reasons we chose Tuscany is because it's incredibly affordable for eating, drinking and getting around. You can expect to pay more at the bars and restaurants in premium locations e.g. in the piazza or overlooking the cathedrals, but for the most part you can get amazing pizza and pasta dishes for about 7-10EUR, and drinks are really affordable too.

Do I need to pay local tax?

Yes, like with most EU countries tourists need to pay a small local tax when visiting Italy. Currently this is 1.50 EUR per adult per night you spend in the country. You are usually asked to pay this when you check out of your accommodation.

FAQs for Villa Guests

Check in is 3pm on the Monday and check out is 10am on the Thursday. Those staying at Casa Cornacchi check in at the main reception, and those staying at Casa Murli check in directly at Casa Murli.

What's provided in my room?

Linen, towels, toiletries, an iron, a fridge, WiFi and aircon are all provided. Each room does have a hairdryer but they aren't the greatest so we'd recommend bringing your own!

Breakfast is served from 8am until 10am.

Can I buy food and drink at the venue?

Yes, there is a licensed bar and a restaurant at Casa Cornacchi where you can get lunch and snacks. This is open until 2pm on the day of the wedding and until 3pm on the day of the pool party. The bar will be open throughout the day.

Where is Casa Murli?

Casa Murli is on the same estate but is on the other side of the hill to Casa Cornacchi which means it's a short car journey away. We have provided a shuttle service to pick up and drop off the guests staying at Casa Murli on all three days, so you don't need to worry about transport for the Pizza Party, Wedding or Pool Party. The adress for Casa Murli is: Casa Murli, Str. Di Casamurli, 52021 Ambra, AR

Is there parking?

Yes, there is parking at all the villas and at Casa Cornacchi itself.
