minute drive; 1.5 hour train ride)

Nyack, NY – Small, somewhat artsy village near Hudson River with stores, galleries and restaurants (4.5

miles)

Shopping:

Palisades Center – Large indoor mall with stores, restaurants, movie theater, and other activities

The Shoppes at Nanuet (Nanuet Mall) – Smaller outdoor mall with some stores, movie theater and restaurants

Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets – Large outdoor mall of outlets (24 miles-about 35 minutes)

Amusement Parks/Zoos:

Bronx Zoo – Largest urban zoo in the US. - Laura and Dylan’s favorite! (About ½ hour by car)

Bear Mountain Zoo – Small zoo with animals native to the area. (See Bear Mountain, below)

Legoland – (39 miles)

Hiking/Parks:

Rockland Lake - Large park with bike path (3 mile loop), lake, picnic areas (7.5 miles)

River Trail - Goes along the Hudson River, with entrances in Upper Nyack and Rockland Lake.

Bear Mountain – Very large park with hiking, zoo, merry-go-round, and picnic areas (20 miles)

Harriman State Park – Large park with lots of hiking trails (20 minutes to Reeves Meadow Visitor Center)

Ramapo Mountain State Forest - Multiple hiking trails (22 miles, about ½ hour)

Palisades – Giant Stairs - Challenging trail that leads to Hudson River (12 minutes)

Museums:

Many museums in NYC! (Museum of Natural History and Metropolitan Museum of Art are favorites)

Edward Hopper House – (4.3 miles)

Liberty Science Center (37 miles – about 50 minutes)

Food/ Restaurants:

Rockland Bakery – A local institution! Pick out your own bread, bagels, baked goods (5 minutes) (no seating)

Zimi Bagels – Bagels/deli – has locations in both Nanuet and Pearl River (6 minutes)

Posa Posa – Pizza/Italian (6 minutes)

Nanuet Restaurant - Pizza/Italian (6 minutes)

Thai Garden – Casual Thai Restaurant – (7 minutes)

Giulio’s Restaurant – Nice old-school Italian (8 minutes)

The Pearl River Saloon – Bar/Pub Food. Also has a nice roof-top bar. (9 minutes)

Bellisimo – Nice Italian – (12 minutes)

The Ridge Diner – Laura’s favorite diner – (13 minutes)

There are also several restaurants in Nyack, which is about a 10 minute drive from the hotel
