If you would like to take public transportation from the Newark airport, you can take the AirTrain directly to the closest NJ Transit station (Newark Airport). If you are flying into New York City, you can access NJ Transit at Penn Station.


From NY/NJ, you can ride NJ Transit using the Teal colored / North Jersey Coast Line (toward Long Branch) and take it to Asbury Park. Check the NJ Transit app or ask your train conductor if you are unsure where to get off, as you may need to transfer at Long Branch for a local line. Your ticket purchase will cover any transfers. The total cost of a ticket from Newark Airport to Asbury Park is $22.30 for adults. Tickets can be purchased on NJ Transit app. The app will also provide accurate arrival and departure times.

Please note this way is longer (2 hours) but you’ll get the full experience of riding the train and seeing NJ plus it’s more cost effective.
