Things to do suggestions courtesy of Brooke Lockhart, the bride-to-be's favorite sister and our Winchester native!
Winchester is the "Apple Capital of the World" so we have orchards everywhere! But the apple trees will likely be empty by the end of October. But there's still plenty to do in Winchester and the surrounding areas.
Beautiful architecture, small shops and local restaurants, including:
~Loudon Street walking mall
~Handley Library
~George Washington's Office
~George Washington Hotel
~Patsy Cline's house
MSV (the museum of the Shenandoah valley) is basically in Old Town. It has has a museum, gardens, AND new walking trails
Also take advantage of Winchester's many cideries, breweries, wineries, and farm markets galore.
Right down Rt 11 from the hotels (~10 mins) for walking paths around the lake (and playgrounds and volley ball courts). Plenty of tables and grills for a picnic.
5 miles of walking/biking trails - Winchester changed hands more than 70 different times during the Civil War. (Only 3 minutes from the Tru & Microtel hotels)
Beautiful drive and hiking trail heads in Shenandoah National Park. About an hour away from the hotels and venue.
about 45 minutes away
Just a bit further, a little over an hour away.
