Lauren and Walker met in the flatlands of Iowa, far from home and unknowingly near something greater. She interviewed him in 2018. Lauren will tell you that she had a much better pitch that day; Walker will tell you that she had a dead toe and open shoes. Both will admit there was an instant and outgoing connection over past travels and present interests.

Lopez is a small island, but there are beautiful places to stay! It takes about twenty minutes to drive from one end to another. We'd recommend booking sooner rather than later and have provided some recommendations here for your consideration.

Welcome to Seattle! Seatac Airport is your most likely destination if coming from out of town. Rental cars are available and necessary to make the hour-and-a-half drive north to the ferry terminal (and to get around Lopez). You may also find flights to Paine Field (PAE) or to Vancouver (YVR).

Seattle–Tacoma International Airport

Your journey to Lopez Island from the mainland begins with a ferry ride. Sit back and enjoy the scenery - maybe even an orca or seal-sighting. Just don't be late! Ferry reservations for cars are available through WASHDOT near the end of April. We will send a notice when this happens. You can only access the ferry terminal via vehicle. It's a roughly one and a half hour drive north from the Seattle area.

Anacortes Ferry Terminal

If youre feeling extra flighty, seaplanes flights are available from Seattle via Kenmore Air straight to the Islander Resort on Lopez! You can take off from downtown, right on Lake Union. But note if you take the seaplane you’ll be without a car and Ubers don’t exist on the island. There are bikes to rent and a taxi service but it’s limited.

AirBnB and VRBO rentals are available on the island. We’ve compiled a list of some AirBnB options for your consideration. Would recommend these if you’re traveling with friends or a group.

Vacation Rentals

Best for smaller groups. You can get a cottage, glamping tent or regular ole tent. This is very close to the reception venue and is a beautiful space.

Lopez Farm Cottages

Boutique accommodations in the heart of the village. Right next to THE BEST farmer’s market come Saturday. 

Edenwild

Be it live music or kareoke Fridays, The Islander is ALWAYS the place to be. Food and service at the bar is superb. You can even fly right here via seaplane! There are an array or room and suite varieties available that should suit everyone’s needs. This is centrally located close to town. This resort alone should have enough room to accommodate all our guests. Please note, we were unable to reserve a block of rooms.

The Islander Resort & Marina

Located right down the road from where Lauren’s mom used to gut fish at a cannery is this quaint little stay. You’re right on the beach. This boutique accommodation is located closest to the ceremony.

MacKaye Harbor Inn

Two separate houses located in a prime spot, Fisherman's Bay which is not far from the Islander Resort. These houses each have two bedrooms. So look to this if you're looking for a spot for your group.

Bay Houses

Right in the heart of the village. Atop THE GREATEST BAKERY IN THE WORLD, Holly B's. There is a studio, single and double room available. Accommodations sleeping anywhere between 2-4.

A great hike for the family along windswept cliffs (think English seaside).

Iceberg Point

Another easy hike that overlooks one of the more dangerous straits around the island. Check out the seals sunning themselves off the point!

Shark Reef Nature Trail

Saturday morning fun! Right in the heart of Lopez Village. Be sure to grab a pickle from Lindas green truck.

Lopez Island Farmers' Market

Add an extra day to your trip for this one.Orcas, known as the Emerald Isle has lush forests and lakes. Hike to the top of the highest point in the islands, Mount Constitution for a spectacular view or go explore the shops in charming Eastsound. We recommend coffee and sandwiches at Olga Rising. Dinner at Maria Kitchen.

Day Trip: Orcas Island

Add an extra day to your trip for this one. San Juan, the namesake for the island chain is the most bustling of them all. Take the ferry to Friday Harbor and stroll through the downtown. Drive a little further and explore English and American Camps, the sites of the infamous “Pig War” as you trek out to quaint Roche Harbor. San Juan is a great spot to schedule whale watching tours, but if you want to avoid the boats altogether you can visit Lime Kiln Point State Park (a fav orca watching spot).
