Orcas, known as the Emerald Isle has lush forests and lakes. Hike to the top of the highest point in the islands, Mount Constitution for a spectacular view or go explore the shops in charming Eastsound. We recommend coffee and sandwiches at Olga Rising. Dinner at Maria Kitchen.
Day Trip: San Juan Island
Add an extra day to your trip for this one. San Juan, the namesake for the island chain is the most bustling of them all. Take the ferry to Friday Harbor and stroll through the downtown. Drive a little further and explore English and American Camps, the sites of the infamous “Pig War” as you trek out to quaint Roche Harbor. San Juan is a great spot to schedule whale watching tours, but if you want to avoid the boats altogether you can visit Lime Kiln Point State Park (a fav orca watching spot).
