Lauren almost cancelled her first date with Josiah, whom she met on Tinder, because there was a lot of rain and traffic. Something told her to go though and she is so glad she did. They sat at a bar, split a pizza and brussels sprouts, and talked non-stop. Lauren didn't think she'd met her soulmate per say, but she knew she hadn't felt like that on a first date in a long time.

Fast forward four months of "casual dating," Lauren was flying back from a trip to Florida and Joey offered to pick her up at the airport. When she saw him standing outside his bright yellow car waiting for her, her heart melted and she knew she was sunk.

They became "official" on the beach in Martha's Vineyard where Lauren proceeded to freak out, but finally said yes (this is a theme). Four months later, Lauren and Robin "temporarily" moved in with Joey and roommate/groomsman Connor until her new apartment was ready. Spoiler alert - it was not temporary.

After surviving the early part of a global pandemic and moving into (and working out of) a 250-square-foot apartment, Joey and Lauren decided they could probably survive a lot of things. They spent a week traveling Colorado in an RV and bought a house.

On Christmas Day, Joey and Lauren were at her parent's condo in Florida. They took a walk down the beach to a tiki bar - it was Lauren's first cocktail outside in months and she was savoring it while Joey had guzzled his and was ready to go. Lauren walked slowly down the beach looking for coquina shells and Joey tried to hurry her along. At every turn, Lauren was making things more difficult.

When they finally got back to the beach outside the condo, Lauren said, "oh look - someone drew a heart in the sand!" Then, she did a doubletake and turned around to see Joey on his knee. Lauren proceeded to freak out, tried to interrupt Joey, and ultimately said yes. Cue applause from Mom and Dad on the balcony.
