What do I need to wear?

Smart(ish). It’s a wedding so obviously it’s nice to dress up, but we want people to feel relaxed and comfortable. You don’t have to stress about the dress code. It’s not a black tie event and the most important thing is that you can make it.

Anything else I should bring?

This is Wales, in April and we are in a barn on a farm - it could be bright sunshine or there could be snow! Parts of the day could be outside, so jackets/coats would be recommended. It may be worth bringing a change of shoes you don't mind getting muddy. To reassure you, inside the barn there is hard flooring and heating.

Is there more than one venue?

No - it’s all in one place. The ceremony, reception and evening entertainment will all be at the barn.

Will I be fed?

Yes. Hopefully very well! Food is our priority. After the ceremony there will be reception drinks and canapés. We will then move onto the main meal when we have the speeches. There will be a pizza van later in the evening.

Dietary options and allergies?

If you have any dietary options please let us know so that we can work something out with the caterers. (Granny of course we know you are allergic to garlic! ) All the food will be cooked by the on site catering.

Photos

We ask that you don't take pictures of the ceremony, but feel free to take pictures at any other time! There will be a photographer all day capturing photos of us all which we will share with everyone. If you do post on social media, please use the hashtag #LaurieRhys25 so that we can see them as well 😊

Drinks?

We will provide reception drinks after the ceremony and then wine with the meal. There is a reasonably priced bar at the venue stocking some local beers and spirits as well as a cocktail bar.

Gifts?

Your time and presence at the wedding is the biggest gift. We know some people are travelling from far and wide to make it to the wedding. We ask you don’t bring any physical gifts but if you wish to contribute to our honeymoon fund then there will be a post box to leave cards at the wedding

Transport?

We have organised mini buses to and from Abergavenny to the Sugar loaf Barn. Please see Travel page. If you are organising transport yourselves, please book in advance of the wedding date. We have a list of recommended local companies. Large coaches are not suitable for the farm lane, 35 seater are the largest they can accommodate. Please note there is no Uber!
