Located just 5 min north of Hilo proper, open to the public 7 days a week, this beautiful garden with wood lined walking paths down to the ocean is filled with tropical flowers and plants from all over the islands of Hawaii. Right near the wedding site on the way to Waipio Valley is the best Fruit stand in all of Hawaii! There are pet ducks that roam around that you can pick up and snuggle and the fresh fruit and cold hand cut coconuts are well worth the stop!
This is the Beautiful Waipio Valley below where we will be getting married/ Peaceful, serene, this place is sacred to Hawaii and our favorite place to visit on Big Island. Access to the valley is unfortunately restricted to local traffic only since 2022 but we are working on getting a special guided tour for wedding party members. There is a viewing platform of the valley however both from the wedding sight and near by the road to the valley.

You cannot drive up to the top unless you have a 4x4 vehicle and you will need to make arrangements before going as parking is very limited. The easiest way is simply to book a tour. There are also Day Hikes that are organized which last about 8 hours up and back.
Poi Balls! Oh man, this is a traveling food truck that sells the most unique and delicious treat on Big Island. Deep fried donuts made of taro root and sweet rice flour, these things are addictively good and once you try them you will see why they are on our list. Check the Instagram site for their that day locations, open only on certain days and sells out fast! You will want to order more than you think, overestimate!
