The area has many things to do, from art galleries and hiking to sports games. In general, people are very friendly in the area, so please don't be surprised if a complete stranger strikes up a conversation with you.
This link has some lesser-known tourist attractions throughout the area: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/usa/new-york-state/western-new-york/attractions
You can't come to WNY without seeing Niagara Falls https://www.niagarafallsusa.com
Explore and More is a great way to release your child's energy. You can also walk around the outer harbor https://exploreandmore.org/
There is apple picking galore in WNY. Pick your own. org lists many you-pick orchards in the area. You will want to scroll down to Niagara County. https://pickyourown.org/NYwest.htm
If you want an all-and-one country experience, I would recommend Becker Farms https://www.beckerfarms.com/
There are also numerous wineries and breweries.
The locals are very serious about their food. Some local sweet treat favorites are sponge candy and Perry's ice cream. https://www.platterschocolates.com/
The area is also known for beef on weck and, of course, wings (buffalo wings, but we just call them wings). Anchor Bar in Buffalo is the birthplace of the Buffalo wing, but we recommend Duffs. Wings traditionally come with blue cheese dressing. You can ask for ranch, but be prepared for some good-natured teasing.
