The Final Count Down!

We are almost to the BIG day! Here are a few updates on the COVID-19 policy for our wedding.

All guests and vendor staff will be temperature checked prior to entering the venue. Per state mandate, masks are required if gathering indoors.As of 8/27/2021 our wedding and reception will be exclusively outdoors. We are praying for no rain, but should it rain the ceremony will be moved to the onsite chapel and guests will need to wear a mask. Please be advised to bring a mask and umbrella should it rain. Pick a seat, not a side, you're loved by both sides.Seating for ceremony will be set for appropriate social distancing. David and I are both fully vaccinated.

Please keep in mind, our wedding will be held on a holiday weekend. If you would like to stay at one of the three recommended nearby hotels, indicated below, please book as soon as possible to ensure a reservation.

You may opt to book the whole weekend, two days or Sunday evening only. Rate is $151 per night for Friday and Saturday evening and $116 for Sunday (Example: Friday (check-in) through Monday (check-out) is a total of $418 (excluding taxes and fees).) To reserve a room, you must contact the hotel at (828) 274-2022 (select option 0). Reference the Salzyn/Wilson Wedding room block when booking to receive the negotiated rate. You must make your reservation before 07/25/2021 to receive the negotiated rate.

Things to Do

We booked a guided 7-mile trip through the Biltmore Estate. No experience paddle boarding? Not a problem! Dave had no experience paddle boarding and the guide gave us a quick crash course. We had a wonderful and relaxing time. If you plan on arriving prior to our wedding or staying longer for the holiday weekend, we definitely recommend scheduling a SUP (Stand Up Paddle Board) guided tour. Be sure to wear your bathing suite, take a small cooler of drinks, snacks and lots of sunscreen.

Favorite Restaurants

One of our favorite places to eat is at the Sunset Terrace at the Grove Park Inn. We advise booking a reservation a week or two before your visit to ensure table availability. The Sunset Terrace provides a wonderful view of the mountains and great food. No need to worry about the weather, the Sunset Terrace has a fully covered shelter over their dining area.

A recent favorite restaurant of ours is Rocky's. Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack has various spiced chicken and true southern sides. If spicy fried chicken is not your thing, not to worry, they do have regular fried chicken, or as they call it "plain" chicken. Their fried chicken is by far our favorite. Our favorite sides are corn pudding, fried okra, mac &amp; cheese poppers and collar greens.

Looking for a true spa getaway? Book an appointment to have a massage in The Salt Spa of Asheville's Himalayan salt cave. We experienced our first couples massage in a salt cave last year. It was truly relaxing. The entire room is made of Himalayan salt bricks and gravel on the floor of the room. We also experienced the sound table, which is basically laying on a bed above a speaker playing spa music. It sounds crazy, but it is truly a meditative experience.
