Can I bring a plus one?
Please refer to your invite for your plus one information. If you are offered a guest, then absolutely!
Are kids allowed?
We would love to have every family member from ages 0 to 100 at our wedding. Check your RSVP for details!
Where is Gray, Maine?
Gray is a rural farming community about 25 minutes driving distance northwest of Portland.
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
We are planning to have a hybrid event in the gorgeous Maine summertime. The current plan is to hold the wedding ceremony outside while cocktail hour will be in and around the stunning barn at Caswell Farms. Dinner will be on the lawn under a tent. Then we will dance the night away and rock the rafters of the barn until campfire time.
What's the weather like in July?
Nice! Coastal Maine has a temperate climate and we usually get lots of sun in July and August. Expect daily highs around 75°F/ 24°C, and nightly lows around 60°F/ 20°C.
Is it ok to take pictures with phones and cameras during the wedding?
We plan to have an unplugged ceremony to let our amazing photographer capture the moment and have you, our wonderful guests, just be present for our celebration. Outside of the ceremony we would love for you to take photos of our day and will have a way for them to be shared.
What's On The Menu?
We will be serving a family style meal that includes Cedar Planked Salmon with Maple Mustard and Dill and Wood Grilled Sirloin Strip with Wild Garlic Chimichurri (no need to choose an entrée/main -- both will be served). Those who requested a vegan/vegetarian meal will be served a Wood Grilled Cauliflower Steak with Zataar and Preserved Lemon. There will be sides and salads that showcase the delicious seasonal produce our venue Caswell Farm grows.
Will transportation be provided to and from the venue?
We looked into organising chartered group transportation for guests. Unfortunately, regional group transportation rates are high enough that it is more economical to pre-book a taxi with a local company - see travel page for local recommendations.
What about Uber/ Lyft/ Taxis?
Please note due to the location of the venue any transport should be booked in advance with a reputable taxi company (Check out the Travel page). Do not count on calling an Uber from the venue-- despite it being 25ish minutes from downtown Portland, it's in a rural area and we recommend scheduling a pick up in advance.
Does the venue have parking?
There will be ample parking for our guests at Caswell Farms. The venue also has the option of camping Friday and Saturday night. Check the accommodation page for more information.
Do I need a visa?
This will depend on your passport status and obviously we cannot tell you what is best. We recommend checking out the US Tourism website (https://tinyurl.com/us-visa-travel).
Please note that at the bare minimum (without a US passport) you likely need an ESTA (Visa Waiver Program) that should be applied for at minimum two weeks early but usually is granted within 24-48 hours.
I Am Renting A Car - Do I Need An International Driving Permit?
If you are coming from outside the USA - please check with your car rental company e.g. https://www.enterprise.ca/en/help/faqs/drivers-license-requirements-us-canada.html.
You can use a UK photocard driving licence to drive in the US. Some states may need to get the 1949 version of the international driving permit (IDP) as well. IDP requirements vary in each state. Please, consult individual states’ Department of Motor Vehicles as well as the American Automobile Association (AAA).
In the UK IDPs costs £5.50:
