Leslie and Brock first met on a co-ed volleyball team at VBGB (the welcome party location!) back in 2016. Although playing together all season, the two didn't actually communicate until the last game of the season. It was the playoffs and Leslie slammed a point-winning kill to which Brock responded with a congratulatory slap on her booty. Leslie then turned around, locked eyes, and fell in love. Brock eventually would as well.

Leslie and Brock immediately hit it off as the two are both big sports fans (especially Cleveland) and this was the year the Cavs won the NBA title and the Indians reached the world series -- much to celebrate and commiserate.

Soon after, Les and Brock discovered a lot of similarities between them, learning that they both played collegiate sports, are ambidextrous in the same ways (lefty athletically but common/daily tasks righty), and have the exact same birthday! Complete randomness but too coincidental to not mean something. It was meant to be.

The couple-to-be also loved going to VBGB for trivia, where they met their future trivia partners in Sophie and Chris. With both parties not winning anything, the two teams decided to join forces and become a team of four that would begin a trivia tradition. (more on this later).

Les and Brock were inseparable for a couple years. However, Brock dragged his feet in furthering the relationship and the couple split, much to the dismay of [most] friends and family.

During the hiatus, Brock went to meet Sophie and Chris at a brand-new trivia spot, where parking was horrendous. After circling the parking deck for ten minutes, a spot finally opened. As Brock was walking to the new trivia location, a familiar dog turned the corner and started sprinting toward Brock. "Ryley?!" Brock looked up to see a bewildered Leslie as the two had not spoken for a two years (Ryley of course with unwavering love). The timing was incredibly unlikely after not being able to find a parking spot for so long and then having a literal 10-second window to run into each other. Complete randomness, but again, too coincidental for it not to be fate!

Leslie then asked Brock what he was doing and Brock tried to play it cool as if he wasn't about to hang out with the original trivia team as the third wheel. Leslie crashed the evening and the rest is history.

Soon after, Leslie moved in with Brock right before covid struck. The pandemic was miserable for most; however, it allowed Leslie and Brock to see what a future life could be like, forcing them to spend every last minute together locked inside their 1500 sq. ft. mansion. It was a make-or-break type scenario and luckily the two of them flourished together! They knew they could handle anything together if they could thrive in this environment.

Since becoming “official” and moving in together, the two have excelled in all aspects of life. Professionally, Leslie became part-owner in two of her restaurants. Brock became last year’s Teacher of the Year at his school and has led his school to the state’s highest growth each of the past few years. He also recently found out he's a Presidential Award finalist in which just 50 applicants are chosen across the nation.

The two have also traveled the world together, from Key West to Punta Cana, California, Canada, Iceland, and right after the wedding, Ireland!

On October 28th, their lives changed forever when Brock popped the question in a hot air balloon. That birthday present will certainly never be topped :)
