What do I wear?

We have two very different locations for the day. The ceremony is inside an air conditioned church. The reception is primarily an outdoor venue but has two enclosed areas that will be air conditioned. If you are a two outfit kind of person, you could wear more formal attire to the ceremony at the Community Church of Chapel Hill, and then change into something a bit more casual for the reception. The reception will be mostly outdoors but will have an indoor air conditioned area. June in North Carolina can be quite hot, the HIGH averaging 86 F° . Hopefully, it will be a comfortable 75 F° on the night of our wedding. Ladies, if you are planning to wear high heels at the reception, stick with the platform or wedge type of high heels. Avoid pointy stiletto heels because you may get stuck when venturing the beautiful grassy landscape of The Honeysuckle Teahouse. Men, if you want to change into khaki shorts for the reception that sounds fine to us! We want everyone to be comfortable.

How long does it take to get to the reception from the ceremony location?

It should take you 13 - 15 minutes to get to the Honeysuckle Teahouse from The Community Church of Chapel Hill.

What airport should I use, if I'm flying for your wedding?

We recommend Raleigh Durham Airport, also known as RDU.

What hotel should I stay at?

If you want to be near downtown Chapel Hill, Franklin Street, we recommend staying at The Carolina Inn, where all the action is. You will be surrounded by excellent restaurants, the beautiful campus of UNC, and nearby entertainment opportunities, like live music, museums, book stores, theaters, and botanical gardens. Not necessarily in the heart of things, but nearby a wonderful community called Southern Village which has cafes and live music, we reserved a block of rooms at the Hyatt Place Chapel Hill / Southern Village (3690 S Columbia St, Chapel Hill, NC 27517). Anything in particular that you advise I bring for the reception?

Bring your cell phone and take lots of pictures. Unlike many other weddings these days, we want you to feel free to record the event as much as you can! We will provide a link later for you to share your pictures with us. We would love to see your photos and videos of the day! How about an instrument? If you are musical, please bring an instrument over to the reception! Just be aware it can't be one that requires an electrical outlet. We will provide bug spray and sun lotion for guests at the reception, if needed. Maybe bring a coat or shawl for the reception in case it gets cold. For dancing, flip flops or flats can be safer - if you feel like bringing an extra pair.

Is there anything in particular that I should NOT bring to the reception?

No, please do not bring your dog - as much as we love them. In fact, it's best if no one brings any pets. Bad attitudes are also recommended as something to leave at home. Leave your mayonnaise, Brian hates that stuff. Oh and do NOT bring any tiny glass ketchup bottles - they will be interpreted as a challenge and be hidden in your luggage (beware, this is not a joke.)

What is the color palette of the wedding?

Navy Blue, Yellowy Orange, Cream White, Emerald Green, Hot Pink, and Geranium Red.

Are my young children invited to the wedding?

Yes, of course! If you received an invitation then your children are also invited to both the ceremony and reception; no matter how young they are. If they are not going to be at the wedding, please let us know.
