Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center is the place to begin your visit to the battlefield. Here you will learn how to visit the park and what to see around Gettysburg. For visitor safety, all bags are subject to inspection. Bags prohibited inside the Museum & Visitor Center building include cooler bags, luggage, and bags with wheels. The Museum and Visitor Center is privately owned and operated by the Gettysburg Foundation, in partnership with the National Park Service.

Eisenhower National Historic Site

Eisenhower National Historic Site is the home and farm of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Located adjacent to the Gettysburg Battlefield, the farm served the President as a weekend retreat and a meeting place for world leaders. With its peaceful setting and view of South Mountain, it was a much-needed respite from Washington and a backdrop for efforts to reduce Cold War tensions.

Tour the President’s home, enjoy a self-guided walk around the farm, or join a park ranger for an exploration of 1950s Secret Service operations or a look back at WWII and Ike’s problems as Supreme Commander.

Children (ages 6-12) may become Junior Rangers by doing activities in the Junior Ranger booklet. New rangers are awarded a badge and certificate!

Destination Gettysburg offers a self guided walking tour of Historic Downtown Gettysburg. Walk the streets where soldiers fought, civilians lived, and President Abraham Lincoln paraded to the National Cemetery for the 1863 dedication services. Learn more about life in Gettysburg before, during, and days after the fateful days of the Civil War. Enjoy the historic buildings, many dating back to pre-Civil War times.

Children of Gettysburg 1863® the interactive adventure for young historians. Journey back to 1863 with your family or students in Gettysburg’s most family-friendly children’s history museum.

The historic Rupp HouseTM is home to Children of Gettysburg 1863®, providing young visitors with a hands-on history experience in Gettysburg through the stories of the children, teens and young adults who lived here during and after the Battle of Gettysburg.

Designed for families and groups with children in grades K-5, the interactive adventure takes you on a journey through galleries such as Growing Up in Gettysburg, The Soldiers are Coming, Surviving the Battle and Remembering Gettysburg. The interactive exhibits and experiences provide a history-based setting for creativity, discovery and learning.

Living history and special events take place on select dates throughout the spring, summer and autumn seasons.

Admission tickets are currently issued for children/youth ages 12 and younger when accompanied by a ticketed adult. The research is about rediscovering first hand accounts describing civilian life and the musings of soldiers who tactically and tragically occupied the streets of Gettysburg those three long days July 1863.

Reluctant Witnesses offers a variety of historic civilian and or military tours. The tours cover the events that happened in the town of Gettysburg, leading up to, during and after the great Battle. Our guides will connect the present locations to the past accounts. We bring July 1863 in the small town of Gettysburg to life.

Walking tours are presented in coordination with the Victorian Carriage Company and Horse Tours of Gettysburg.

The starting locations are noted in the individual tours. This is a leisurely paced walk… No hiking… on paved roads…wheelchairs are manageable.
