A favorite of locals and of David and Liesl! Open Saturdays and Sundays until 3 PM, the Farmers Market is a great spot to grab breakfast, try some local cider/hard cider, pick up an Ithaca memento, or enjoy a casual lunch by the water. David and Liesl highly recommend an empanadas!!
Our hotel blocks are right "on the commons" - Ithaca's downtown shopping and restaurant hub. A few favorites we recommend checking out for your meals:
Breakfast: Collegetown Bagels
Coffee: Gimme! Coffee
Lunch: Collegetown Bagels
Pizza: Thompson and Bleecker
Tapas-style Dinner: Mia
Cocktails: The Watershed or Argos Warehouse
Beer: Bike Bar
Outdoor drinks: Argos Inn
If you're around Friday (3 - 6 PM) join Liesl and David for a tasting!
One of our favorite vineyards in Ithaca! Head to the tasting room to try six of their wines guided by the friendliest wine experts around. When you find your favorite, grab a glass (or two!) and head outside to enjoy your NY wine by the lake or in the vineyard.
The couple recommends the Chardonnay Reserve for a white wine (David), the Pasa Tiempo for something unique (Liesl), and the Cabernet Franc for an excellent red (both!). No need for a reservation, but if you know you'd like to do this activity you can book your tasting ahead of time to make sure there's someone ready to guide you!
Wine Tasting: $8 for 6 selections
Spirit Tastings: $1 each. Limited to 3.
Wine By The Glass: $6 - $8
Local Beer: $5 - $7
A favorite of the couple and of Ithaca locals. A beautiful and paved hike that will take you from downtown Ithaca up to College Town. Finish the hike with a drink or lunch at College Town Bagels or keep the momentum going and explore the beautiful Cornell University campus.
Although this hike is paved, be prepared for a steep hike!
One of David and Liesl's favorite places to take visiting friends and family. The main gardens make for a great hour or two of wandering. Grab a lunch from the Commons and bring it for a picnic at one of the pavilions!
Whether you're a museum lover or not, the Art Museum is a must-see. Head to the top floor for (almost) 360 degree views of Ithaca from the top of "the slope." Admission is free and the views alone are worth the trip!
David's favorite trail! ~7 mile loop. The lookout is about a mile from the creek crossing if you don't want to do the whole loop!
