Iris has been Lilly's best friend since the day she exited the womb (Lilly was two and quipped, "She's always so very cheerful!"). Though "the girls" had their own bedrooms growing up, Iris found any excuse to ask Lilly to sleepover in her room. Their parents would always call them "built in best friends." Their young friendship included playing Barbies, selling their art at lemonade stands, racing up the stairs to avoid the basement spiders, and playing "princess and servant" (Iris being the servant, obviously). It was a surprise to nobody, and a huge relief to Lilly, when Iris followed Lilly by moving to Minneapolis for college. They even moved BACK in together as roommates. Yes, they like to joke about how annoying the other is, but really - neither sister would trade each other for the world.

Jariel has been Alejandro's closest friend since fourth grade. It all began on the St. Louis Park football field, where they were teammates from age nine through eighteen. As the boys grew closer, their moms, Nelly and Idalid, did, too. The ladies would go out dancing together while "Jerry" and "Ale" had sleepovers. In high school, they even worked together at Pizza Hut. Since high school, Jariel and Alejandro (and often, their families) have gone on four trips together - Puerto Rico twice to visit Jariel's dad, one Caribbean cruise, and a boys' trip with many of their shared friends to Phoenix.
