Andy and Lily first met in a cemetery! They both worked for the City of Laramie Forestry Department, and the office location happened to be in the city cemetery. They became fast friends. While Lily watered trees around the city, Andy just happened to be cataloging the trees in the same place.
After about a year of long conversations, working together, and backroad driving, Andy finally admitted, "You don't have to be the head cashier at Walmart to figure out that I like you." Lily resisted at first, worried that it would change their friendship for the worse. But Andy persisted, and eventually, the two shared their first kiss on a rooftop watching the Independence Day fireworks.

Andy had planned to propose over Easter weekend in 2024, but had let the plan slip to Lily before it could happen! So he instead came up with a new plan. He had the ring shipped to Grand Junction, and intended to wait until the day he had scheduled a photoshoot. After running errands one day, the couple arrived at their home and Lily let the dogs into the backyard. When she turned around, Andy was down on one knee. "I can't wait any longer. Lily, will you marry me?" Obviously, she said yes! And in her excitement she fell down on the kitchen floor, taking Andy with her. A few days later, they went to the photoshoot Andy had scheduled.
