Our Wedding

Rod and I met during the 2021/2022 snowboard season on the Loki chairlift at Crystal Mountain. Rod complimented my cool snowboard bindings, we got chatting (turned out I knew his friend sitting in between us, Steenis), and I’d love to say the rest is history… But, it took me most of the snowboard season before I realized Rod was trying to get my attention (luckily our friend Corinne helped me take my blinders off). While sitting on the Ridge lift (at Crystal) that spring, Rod offered to take me surfing that summer, so we finally exchanged phone numbers. That led to Rod coming to a couple of my yoga classes at Crystal, followed by our first date at The Thistle (yep, you guessed it… at Crystal Mountain). But it was the second date that sealed the deal. Rod invited me to his house for dinner. When I arrived, he had already made a salad, packed a picnic basket, and suggested a hike in the dunes for sunset. Everything about this date was perfectly me, and afterward we basically became inseparable. Living and working together, enjoying MANY outdoor activities (you should see our board garage), and going on adventures. On May 14th, 2024, we went to the season opening of Rock’s Landing’s and planned to hike our “second date dune” afterwards for sunset. It was nothing out of the ordinary, in fact, I was the one who booked the reservation. So when Rod proposed at the top of the dune I was in complete shock! There were immediate waterworks and I quickly nodded “yes”! On March 28th, 2026, we are going back to where it all began… on top of Crystal Mountain for a Spring Shred Wedding.

We would love for you to join us at Crystal Mountain for a long weekend!   With plans to be on property from Thursday, March 26th until Monday, March 30th, we would especially love for all of you who ski and snowboard to join us out on the slopes both Friday and Sunday (non-hill activities are planned as well)!   Please utilize our wedding celebration as more than just a wedding, but also…    • An up north, spring break ski vacation, with a party (wedding) sprinkled in.  • A way for all of you… our closest, most important people a chance to meet each other, make new friends, catch up with old pals, and just enjoy each other’s company.  • An end of the winter season, spring slush laps, celebration.   With that being said, we understand that life can be demanding. It isn’t always feasible to take time off of work / school. Or maybe you’re local and would rather commute from home. Etc. Please do what is best for you and your family! We just wanted everyone to know our plan and to spend as much time with all of you as possible!   P.S. To save even more, we highly recommend getting a group together and booking a bigger spot! Plus it’ll be fun and feel like your college spring break all over again! Join Rod for an Art Park Walk around 10:00am on the wedding morning. Meet at the Cross-Country/Nordic Center--continue up the street from Kinlochen to find it. Check out the Crystal Maps under 'Travel &amp; Stay' for directions to the Cross-Country Center. Michigan Legacy Art Park is non-profit contemporary sculpture park located on two miles of hiking trails amidst a 31-acre hardwood forest preserve in Benzie County.

Ski & Snowboard at Crystal

One of the best ski schools in the area. Last year we had 100% certified staff (which never happens, not even at corporate resorts out west). From beginner to advanced to park lessons, we offer it all! You can even put your child in ski school for a few hours in the morning, afternoon, or all day if you want! Lodging guests save 10% on prebooked lessons! While booking, if you mention you are part of the wedding weekend, you might even get a deeper discount!
