· Apply for a Tourist Visa: Required for guests traveling from the United States and available to apply online starting in April 2025. We strongly advise to apply at least three months in advance of the wedding date. [Official] Brazil Evisa | Tourist eVisa

· Book Hotel: The hotel has a room block with special rates until the end of February (20% off weekday rates and 10% off weekend rates). Depending on your travel plans, we recommend booking Friday, Aug 29, Saturday, Aug 30, and Sunday, Aug 31 at a minimum by the end of February even if you do not have your flight booked yet. You can always add extra days to your reservation as needed. See the Travel tab for additional details.

· Check Credit Cards: Brazil currency is the Real (R$). You can use your credit card for most things. Check that your credit card does not have any foreign transaction fees. It is recommended to have a small amount of cash with you (exchange at least $50 USD) for taxis, street vendors, etc. You can either go to the currency exchange in the airport (in the U.S. or in Brazil) or use an ATM in Brazil.

· Wear Comfortable Shoes: Ideal for exploring Paraty's charming, uneven cobblestone streets. Bring sandals or tennis shoes for most days. For wedding events, high heels are not recommended; instead, consider wearing block or short heels.

· Pack for the Weather: On average, the weather is warmer during the day (77°F/25°C) and cooler at night (60°F/16°C), however, check the temperatures in Paraty before packing. It is advisable to bring repellents, sunscreen, and a light jacket.

Other Important Travel Notes:

· We recommend getting travel health insurance in case of emergencies here.

· Ensure your passport is not expired or near expiration upon date of entry. Some countries and airlines deny entry if your passport expires in less than 6 months.

· It is strongly encouraged to walk only within the historic center (where no cars are allowed).

· In Brazil, two voltage levels are used 110 and 220 volts, and it can vary by region, city, and even hotel. Check voltage on items like hair tools, steamers, etc. to see if they will operate.

· Purchase an international adapter(s) such as this one here in order to use any electronics. The outlets in Brazil are the Type N socket and the plugs have three round pins in a triangular shape.

· Download WhatsApp. We will use this app to communicate while in Brazil.
