Highfield Hall & Gardens is not your typical historic estate. While there's plenty of history within these glorious old walls, Highfield is a vibrant cultural center surrounded by restored gardens, peaceful walking trails and conservation land. The house is a rare surviving example of transitional Stick Style architecture, containing beautiful gardens located in the heart of Falmouth, Massachusetts.
The Woods Hole Science Aquarium was established in 1875, making it the country's oldest public aquarium. This is a small aquarium displaying approximately 80 species of marine animals found in Northeast and Mid-Atlantic U.S. waters. The aquarium is designed for self-guided tours of the main exhibits and a behind-the-scenes look at aquarium operations. Operating hours are limited to check their website.
The museum details the history of the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company. Glass blowing demonstrations on the hour.
If you want to visit Martha's Vineyard, in late October, the Steamship Authority out of Woods Hole is the closest option for a ferry.
