Liam and Lisa got engaged on the beach in Mexico. Liam, being the thoughtful guy he is, crafted a beautiful ring box to use in the proposal. When he got down on one knee in the sand, Lisa was so shocked and excited that she didn’t say anything for a full 30 seconds. Of course, she finally said yes, much to Liam’s relief! They celebrated their engagement during their several weeks in Mexico that followed. Which brings us to this… We couldn’t be happier to share our big day with you. We are getting MARRIED on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Miller's Landing on Lowell Point in Seward, Alaska. We have the venue rented from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning. Feel free to join us for the ceremony or the entire weekend! Liam and I are staying at the Salted Roots cabins, just a minute or two walk from the venue. We will be around to visit in and off throughout the entire weekend! We encourage you to bring clothing for all sorts of weather, as the ceremony will be outdoors. While this wedding is in June, Alaska can throw any sort of weather our way. The ceremony should be fairly quick, so even if it’s not ideal weather, we will only have to brave it for a short time. The reception is inside a large heated tent. We will have a couple smaller cabins dedicated for hangout zones as well. One (yurt) will be designated as a “Kids Tent” with games, toys, coloring books, etc. We love kids and want them to be comfortable and entertained just as much as the adults. We hope that the weather will be great, but we are prepared if it’s not. Please plan for Alaskan weather, regardless! Bring blankets and umbrellas just in case, if you need them! We will be providing beer and wine, but not liquor. If you would like liquor, please bring your own. We will have (some) food options for vegans, gluten allergies/sensitivities, dairy allergies/sensitivities and others. Our food will be buffet style, so you will hopefully be able to accommodate your sensitivities/allergies. Feel free to call, email or text us if you have any question. Wedding Location 

Parking will be located between the Silver Derby Group Site 5 and the two yurts (Camping and Full). There will be signs directing you to the parking for the event.

Our wedding zone is right next to Uncle Steve’s Cabin. We will have signs leading people to the venue. Uncle Steve’s Cabin will be open for people to hang out in. It has a full bathroom, as well as two bedrooms and a loft. If you need to get away from me the hubbub in the tent, feel free to hide away in one of these rooms. The Camping Yurt will be open for people to hang out. This will be the Kids Tent and will have coloring books, toys, etc. The parking area is located adjacent to the venue. These areas will be marked for the event. Additionally, the Rocket House cabin will be open for hanging out. We are hoping for good weather, but wanted plenty of indoor hang space in case of bad weather. We have reserved all the camping sites along the river (numbers 105-143). If you would like one of these, please let us know! We also have some tent camping spots in the trees. They are there for you to use. Millers Landing has some typical campground rules. Our Wedding

All event times are subject to changing slightly, due to the flow of things. Day of Schedule 

Liam and Lisa met during social interaction during a college history class. He arranged his facial features to appear friendly. She smiled back. They became acquainted. Each harbored secret admirations for the other, although nothing came of this attraction until years later. During this time, they would run into each other around town, but things really took off when they ran into each other at the Anchorage Rock Gym. Lisa was climbing and minding her own business when Liam noticed her out of the corner of his eye. He approached her and quickly got her number to… climb in the future. They started getting together to climb regularly over the next few weeks. Liam worked up his courage and low key asked Lisa to accompany him to an upcoming rock climbing film at the hip, local restaurant theatre, Bear Tooth Theaterpub. Unfortunately, Lisa already had plans for that evening and turned him down. (She was not aware that she was being asked out on a date.) That did not deter fair Liam. He continued to pursue climbing sessions with Lisa over the next few weeks. During this time, they ended up chatting about Lisa turning Liam down for a date. She told him that she did not know that he was asking for a date and that she would absolutely go out with him. She asked him to ask her again. He did… she said yes. They have been together ever since. They decided it would be mutually beneficial to enter into a relationship. They made sure to be seen at all the local fast food franchises together.

Food, Bars, Gift Shops and Other Seward Things

Every Friday Friday of the month, there is an art walk in downtown Seward. This falls on Friday, June 2, the night before the wedding. This photo is from the May 2023 art walk, but the venues should be relatively the same for June!

Seward First Friday 

Millers Landing (the wedding venue) offers several options for adventures. They offer water taxis to different places in Resurrection Bay, fishing charters in the Bay, as well as guided kayaking. They also offer wellness/yoga retreats if that’s more your style. See their website for more information

This public aquarium is located in downtown Seward. They have all sorts of interesting marine wildlife to see. It’s a great activity for all ages. See their website for more information.

Sunny Cove Kayaking is located right next to the wedding venue. They have wonderful, safety-conscious guides, and offer several different levels and lengths of kayaking adventures in and around Resurrection Bay. See their website for more information.

If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, go check out Exit Glacier. It’s located a few miles from town. This glacier is one of the easiest roadside glaciers to access in the state.

Caine’s Head is an abandoned WWII fort located south of Seward along the water. It is accessible on land by a popular hiking trail (for more experienced hikers) and by water via boat or kayak. It’s super cool and sometimes a little spooky , but worth checking out if you’re feeling super adventurous.

Taking a glacier or whale-watching tour is a great way to spend some time in Seward, whether you’re from Alaska or not. See the website for more information.

If you’re interested in an alternative form of transportation to the venue, the Alaska Railroad will take you straight from downtown Anchorage to the town of Seward. Please keep in mind that the railroad depot is several miles away from Millers Landing. Seward does have taxis, but please plan accordingly .

If you’re looking to explore another part of Alaska, we highly recommend visiting Cooper Landing and kayaking or rafting with this awesome company! They offer kayaking on the beautiful Kenai Lake and guided rafting down the scenic Kenai River. Both tours require little to no technical skills and they have an amazing crew that will make you feel completely as ease.

There are several cabins and Air BnBs located in Seward. (Please visit Air BnB’s website to see their options.)

This is the actual wedding venue. Please note that Millers Landing has two campgrounds. We are located closest to the Annex Campground, although the North Campground is within walking distance. Millers Landing has various cabins as well as camping spots for tents and RVs at both campgrounds. We rented about 30 camping spots in the Annex Campground along the river with electric hookups. If you would like one of these spots, please let us know! You don't necessarily need a trailer or RV to use one of these spots. You're welcome to tent camp at these spots if you prefer. They are there for you to use, so just let us know! I’d you want to get a different camping spot at Millers Landing, let them know that you’re with our party, and you get a 10% discount.

Millers Landing Annex Campground 

This hotel is located a few miles away from the venue. However, it's one of the nicer large hotels in Seward. We have 15 rooms blocked here. The dates are June 2-4, 2023 for these. Please use the code LWED23 for this. This block expires May 1, 2023.

Harbor 360 Hotel

This place has some cute cabins located right next to the wedding venue on Lowell Point. The cabins require a 5 night stay, so these would be great for someone wanting to make a longer vacation out of the wedding.

There are several lodges, cabins, BnBs and hotels that are not listed on this website. Hopefully you will have no trouble finding a place to stay! Some places have not opened their booking up yet, so be patient and check back. Contact the venues to see when you can book. Things go quickly in Seward in the summer! Camping is always an option, as well! There are several RV, camper and/or trailer rental companies in Anchorage, if you'd like to camp. We have reserved about 30 RV site with electric hookups for the wedding. If you would like to use one, let us know. They are there for you to use!

Accommodations 

Q + A

Please remember that we are having this wedding in a mixed residential and campground zone. Miller's Landing has a few typical campground rules, seen below. We will also have these posted around the wedding venue.

No fireworks, firearms or weapons are allowed in the campground.   Alcohol is allowed to be consumed on your site. In the Bath, Laundry & Shower Facility as well as anywhere else off your site, in the campground, it’s NOT permitted.   Quiet time is 10PM- 8AM. During this period there should be no noise that could disturb other campers.   After 10PM all children must be at their own campsite if not accompanied by an adult.   When you get your parking pass, put it in the front windshield of your vehicle so that is visible to us.   Speed limit through the campground is 5MPH.   Please park on your reserved site or in the main parking area in front of the office building.   Fire pits mustn’t be moved. Fire is restricted to the campfire ring and must be damped down before turning in for the night.   Visitors are welcome but they should be registered in our office with the site they are visiting. By 9PM visitors are expected to leave the campground.   Before check-out make sure you leave your site clean. No garbage should be left behind.   ATVs and Motorcycles are not allowed in the campground.    Scooters, bicycles and Children’s vehicles are allowed but must be on your site when not in use.   No smoking in the Bath, Laundry & Shower Facility.   Cutting down or damaging trees is prohibited and the violators will be fined.   Washing cars, trucks or campers in NOT permitted on the campground sites.   Failure to follow the campground rules will result in asking the customers to leave the campground without reimbursement.
