Below is a list of some of our favorite things to do. While many of these are in the direct Cooperstown village, some may require travel by car.
You're in luck to visit Cooperstown at such a beautiful time of year! During October, there are several harvest festivals and fall activities to enjoy. Please keep in mind that some of these activities are weather dependent, and some close for the season early in October. Call ahead and do some Googling before making any plans. However, all of these listed activities should still be open during your visit.
National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum – Explore the history of baseball at this world-renowned museum. Right in the heart of downtown Cooperstown.
Fenimore Art Museum – American folk art and fine art in a beautiful lakeside setting. 5 minute drive from downtown Cooperstown.
The Fenimore Farm & Country Village – Step back in time and explore rural life in the 19th century through exhibits and historic buildings. Across the street from the Fenimore.
Otsego Lake – if weather permits, you can tour the lake on a boat, paddle board, or kayak. Check on Sam Smith's boatyard for rentals; bear in mind that many rentals may be closed for the season by the time of the wedding.
There is also great fishing in the lake!
Cooperstown Beverage Trail – Sample local craft beers, spirits, and wines at various breweries and distilleries around town. https://www.cooperstownbeveragetrail.com/map/
Glimmerglass State Park – Enjoy hiking, picnicking, and swimming while taking in breathtaking views of Otsego Lake. Sleeping Lion trail is highly recommended, or just take a drive around the park!
Historic Hyde Hall is located on the property and a wonderful piece of local history. There's a historic covered bridge at the entrance to the park that you can walk on.
Hiking and Outdoor Adventures – Explore trails and nature around Cooperstown for a peaceful escape.
